The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling alive.” – Thich Nhat Hanh

Nothing like the feel of sand between the toes!

Miss O did rock climbing camp this week. I can’t describe how much I love seeing her climb at the gym I’ve climbed at for years – the first indoor rock climbing gym in the US! (She’s not in the middle picture but I think that’s the most impressive wall at this gym.)

Backyard pool fun!

This is the kind of pizza Miss O likes to eat! What was on your plate this week?

Oh, sweet summer sunshine!

Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Beach time! Miss O is very good at collecting crabs. Apparently, she wanted to look at a dozen of them up close before letting them go. Thank goodness they didn’t end up all over her face or down her clothes…

A foggy morning view and a sunny morning view of the Space Needle.

Fountains and cotton candy – nothing better!

I was given the gift of a float in a sensory deprivation tank. It was just 10 inches of water, a bag (or so) of Epsom salt, me and my thoughts. At first I thought, “I’m going to do this for an hour?” and then I fell asleep. I was hoping for a conversation with God or major epiphany and while that didn’t happen, it felt like I’d been rebooted like a computer.

Featured photo: Either the bench grew legs or everyone chose the same hiding place for toddler hide and seek.

Quote for the week: “And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.” – Louis Armstrong

And hide and seek isn’t the only old game we played this week. The kids were loving the WII games that must be about least 15 years old. But hey, they still work for amusement apparently!

Probably because the other thing to play with is the garbage can. It was two doors down the street before I realized it had “grown” legs and started walking.

Our other theme this week was giving inappropriate foods to animals. We caught a squirrel at the park commandeering a birthday cupcake and at home we practiced singing happy birthday with the cat.

Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart, rather than a piece of our mind.” – unknown

My Dove wrapper picture from last week made Mark (from the Swinged Cat blog) wonder what was on Snapple caps these days. So the featured photo of this post is the answer.

We rode bikes to school this week and it was all unicorns and sunbeams

Actually there was a lot of bike riding this week which makes it feel like summer is here.

And the ice cream truck reinforced the feeling that summer is here!

Miss O brought the classroom pet home. He was a lot easier than the classroom pets I brought home back in the day.

That wraps up life in our bubble. How was your week?

In a week that ranged from rain to sunshine, sickness and health, nights that had restless sleep and nights we slept well, not only did I eat Dove chocolate to get through, but I also wholeheartedly adopted this wrapper advice.

My favorite picture of the week – little people casting long shadows. It reminds me of the beginning of Peter Pan where Wendy is sewing his shadow on so it can always be with him.

Backyard camping where the primary wildlife we saw was the cat trying to squeeze herself between the tent body and the rain fly.

I know what the boots are for – measuring who has collected the most water at the end of puddle jumping. But what are the umbrellas for?

Reading my tea leaves — I see love…!

A nice weekend day and it seemed everyone in Seattle dragged their sun-starved body out to enjoy!

Car wash fun. I think they washed the car several times over!

It looks like Mt. Rainier is the pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. I can believe that!

I wonder who will get the fish first – the fishing pole or the fishing bird?

Beachcombing on Salmon Bay

We visited a friend who was staying near the railroad crossing over Salmon Bay outside of the locks in Seattle. An incredibly beautiful spot full of all sorts of treasures and fun!

I’ve previously published photos of the great viewing room that we have at the local dump but this past weekend, we coordinated a visit so that my mom could go up into the viewing room with the kids to watch while I drove in to deposit the old hot tub cover below. I know it’s not what usually counts for fun on a Saturday – but my kids love it!

Target sells these great bubble fans for $5 and they provide priceless fun!

I spotted this rock on a neighborhood walk. It’s my segue to asking – how was your week?

We got to spend some time at a fire station this week. While I am tempted to claim that is primarily fun for the kids, I have to admit that I thought it was really cool too. So many fun facts – that they can get their gear on in 60 seconds or less, that they have hose towers that are really tall so they can wash and dry their hoses after a fire or going somewhere gritty and they leave the keys in the ignition so no one ever has to be looking for the keys.

Yep, that last one is Mr. D kicking the tires.

And we also had a couple days of warmer sunny weather that made it fun to be out mowing, planting and playing around.

Does it make it okay for your child to write on the railings if they write “I love you Mom!” when they do it?

Planes, ships and automobiles! I would have thought my kids would have had enough of transportation after flying home from vacation. But then I discovered they’d charmed their way into the front seat of an ice cream truck.

We spent a lot of the week making Teacher Appreciation Week cards and finding gifts for our wonderful teachers. It’s going to take a lot more than a week to express our gratitude to these amazing teachers but we had a lot of fun trying!
