This is How I Blog Roll

Ten minutes into writing my post for last week’s podcast, I knew I was in trouble. I was writing about all the ways we share experience and knowledge on WordPress and had started a list of the fabulous bloggers I follow and their themes. What I quickly realized was that I could spend all day and still not be able to list all the wonderful blogs I follow. Plus my one-line summary may or may not match their goals or purpose. Does Mark blog about manifesting, mosquitoes or moving? Hmm… all three?

So I’m borrowing a page from Ally Bean and doing a blog roll. Ally was a wonderful connector of people is no longer but is no longer blogging on WordPress (The Spectacled Bean). But her words and impact remain.

In the comments for this post, please leave your blog name, URL, a one or two-line description, and the year you started your blog. Think of it as a dinner party and I’m really excited to introduce you to each other. Don’t even think about hiding in the corner – I will come find you. My blog is https://darlenefoster.wordpress.com/ I created my blog sixteen years ago for writers, readers, travelers, dreamers, friends, and friends I haven’t met yet.  I believe everyone has a right to dream, and with hard work and imagination, can make their dreams come true. I look forwrad to meeting some of your blogging friends, Wynne.

  2. This is great! I came to this same conclusion. The Blog Roll feature was one I shied away from simply because I didn’t know how to use it. I have used it now with several of the highlighted writer’s list and have found it quite helpful.
    It is a versatile tool with pulling in blogs or in a roll for posts, either specific ones or those with a specific category or tag. I just started using it for the blogs themselves so it can pull them in automatically when I type in the blog name. It is a great feature and time saver!

    1. You were one of the people I connected with early in my WP journey and I’m so grateful!! Thanks for making this an amazing place to be, Ab! The teacher’s have not yet signed a contract so we might have a strike but fingers crossed school starts tomorrow. I hope you all enjoy your last week of summer fun!

  5. Oh, I miss Ally Bean! I think about her often, so hoping she’d choose to pop back to WP every so often. Love your idea. It’s always find to discover new blogs.

    My tag is “Journeys Through the 2nd Half of LIfe” and I think that’s pretty appropriate to what I most often write about- a new home in CO, my family and changes associated with aging.

My Name is Dom and my blog site is https://covellistake.com/ I only came back to blogging two months ago after 10 years, In fact, it was one of my daughters who suggested i come back to it. I woffle on about everyday issues, usually from a Gen-x angle, not grumpy though! i like to keep it as light-hearted. I’m really looking forward to discovering some great blogs!   7. Hi! I’m Sharon. I’ve had my WordPress blog since 2014 (?) I’ve been hit and miss all these years, but post on occasion to keep it running. I tell stories and use it as my personal free therapy; it’s cheaper than going to my therapist 😜 You can find me at justcallmesharon.net

    In the last 6 months ,or so, I’ve really dug in to finding other blogs similar to mine, where folks just tell stories and share life events. For some reason it took awhile for me to find you all, but now that I have I see what a lovely community you’ve built and I’m happy to be able to have a peek into it! Thanks!

I plan to bookmark this page and come back to meet more bloggers. “Of All The Things I’ve Ever Dreamed” at https://rosevettleson.wordpress.com/ started in 2016 to combat the terrible negativity in my country and families caused by the rage of politics. I wanted to share a different voice – one filled with hopes for a better, more creative, inventive, equal future. And I want this now more than ever for my grandbabies. My blog contains a random variety of stories about: what makes my life awesome, family, travels, air shows, motorcycle rides, books, happiness and good work, math, science, nature, learning, state parks, maps, and opinions on topics that hit my heart and home….

  16. I miss Ally Bean. She pops up on Instagram but her blog was so much fun. This is a great idea to find bloggers new to me. My blog has evolved through the years following changes in my life. What began in 2014 as financial advice focused on women turned into a parenting blog. Now as an empty nester I highlight daily life — then took a turn to highlight my photography after taking photography classes in 2025. https://bleuwater.me/
