One Hundred and Still Going Strong

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” – Thomas Edison

In the senior living community where my mom lives, there are several people over 100 years of age. My kids love hearing stories about them and meeting them in the hallway. After all, if you reach 100, you’ve probably learned a thing or two, right?

Let’s hope so because Vicki Atkinson and I are celebrating our 100th episode of the Sharing the Heart of the Matter podcast. I’m just so incredibly grateful that Vicki, my podcast partner and dear friend, was and continues to be willing to do a storytelling and author podcast with me. Despite the fact that we’ve never met, this has been such a rich collaboration in which I’ve learned SO MUCH from the ever insightful, engaging, and sunny, Dr. Vicki!

We’ve also learned a bit about podcasting over these two years. So we sit down to mark the moment and answer four questions:

  • What were our favorite stories?
  • Do we have a biggest a-ha moment?
  • What have we learned as hosts?
  • Goals for the Sharing the Heart of the Matter podcast in 2025?

Vicki shares that she actually went back and listened to the very first episode. She says that instead of the cringe-worthy moment she expected, it was worth listening to our goals of being authentic and vulnerable.

We also spend some time laughing about the technical difficulties we’ve encountered along the way. In spite of those, we’ve forged through and added features like captions and transcripts to make the podcast more accessible.

In this celebratory moment, we honor all the incredible and inspiring guests we’ve had on and applaud our wonderful listeners and subscribers. We couldn’t be more grateful for all of you who’ve accompanied us on this journey.

I’m confident you’ll love the scenic and beautiful places we explore as we share the power of storytelling and pause to celebrate before we move on to the next 100 episodes!

We know you’ll love it!

  1. Thank you both for offering me the space and time to speak, my dears. In our perilous time, especially, that privilege should not be taken for granted.

  2. Congratulations!!!!!! Oh, I’m so happy for Vicki and you. 100 episodes!!! So well deserved. You guys area breath of fresh air each episode. I’m honored to be a small part of it. Thank you for the shout out too. I haven’t done anything except tell you what everyone says: that they love your content and positive take on a sometimes challenging world. You guys worry about the tech stuff . . . but it sounds like you’ve been doing podcasts for decades. So professional and on the ball. Love it.

      1. You’re welcome! I watched it. Thanks for sharing your behind the scenes experiences. I’ve worked on editing a few videos and I thought I was the only one who struggled with the captions.😅

    1. That’s so funny about your FIL, Cindy. Well, technically, he’s LIVED 100 years when he turns 99, right? Thanks for being one of our wonderful guests!

  6. So much fun to look back with you. I don’t recall when we first crossed paths, but I know I missed many of the early podcasts. You’re both terrific hostesses. As I’ve mentioned several times, you create a comfortable and homey atmosphere like that house in the neighborhood where all the kids want to hang out.

  7. I wondered if you two had met yet, and I have my answer. We all know that it’s going to happen sometime, you have shared so much together! 🙂 Congratulations Wynne and Vicki! I loved hearing you two talk about the learning curve (243 corrections on commas!!!!) and the people you have met along the way. I also loved hearing that using video and captioning and offering transcripts is not the standard for podcasts, but rather it is something you wanted to add to be inclusive. ❤️ I think it’s destined that 2025 is going to be a stand-out year for you.

  9. A good listen, thank you. I learned a few things – you two have never met? At least that’s what I heard, WOW that’s pretty cool. I love how you two share your learning in your story telling. It was a good listen on the way home from school to decompress after a busy week, even with four days. looking forward to 101 and beyond.

  11. Wow, it seems like yesterday when you first started and scared me to death by asking me on as a guest and I’m forever grateful. I am so pleased that you took a pause to consider this incredible milestone, to honor the beautiful creators you have hosted on your show, and the inspiration you have enjoyed from your various guests. You have inspired me to go back and listen to several of the episodes that I have missed. Looking at the list of guests I can only imagine the incredible stories you have witnessed and celebrated. All I can say, is keep going, you and Vicki are enchanting hosts, kind, honest, and so welcoming. You’ve polished your product, learned a lot in the process, and encouraged so many others to step outside their comfort zone. As you say, you allow others to be vulnerable because they aren’t intimidated to share their truth, raw and unfiltered. Your podcast is a gift to the listeners. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment, you two rock, thank you for putting this work in the world! Love you, C
