“The eyes experience less stress when they can look upon a wider horizon.” – R.D. Chin

I think all vacations that start with a ferry ride are off to a good start. And this one ended with Miss O drawing out our activities which provided a nice summary before our ferry ride back.

A week of a wide horizon of sun, sea and surf.

On a walk that my friend and Mr. D took, they saw a bunny run under a hedge. My friend started to say, “I bet if we are quiet, then we can…” Then Mr. D., already understanding the point, interjected, “Sshhh!”

Regardless of all there was to look at, it seemed the most popular place to be for the 7-years and under set was in the pool.

The windows of Langley, a picturesque little town on Whidbey Island near where we were staying, were stenciled with little quotes. Although one of them seemed to have the idea backwards, at least to my way of thinking.
Any quotable lines and good stories from your week?
Beautiful family!

Sounds like a beautiful vacation!
Yes, I too wondered about how one judges hearts and even the question of whether it is helpful to do so. A buddy, John K., likes to say, “Buddies don’t count.” A fine man, as you might guess.

That was exactly what I was struggling to put my finger on, Dr. Stein! Thank you! Yes – “Buddies don’t count.” John K. sounds wonderful – as are you!

Glad that you’re enjoying your vacation! Yes, a ferry ride is a great way to start! One of my favourites is the ferry ride to Vancouver Island–pure heaven!

Oh yes, Art. I’ve done it. And bicycled from the ferry up past Nanaimo and across the ferry back to the mainland. We’ve also explored most of the inside passage on my brother’s tugboat taking extra time at Desolation Sound. Amazing country!

Love the photos, Wynne! And….may I take a guess about the quote that’s better reversed (at least in my mind – maybe yours?) A little switcheroo on the “live, love eat” to “eat, love, live”. Maybe that’s just me! 😉

Thank you, Vicki! I hadn’t pondered that one – maybe that one should have its ordered reversed too!
The one I was wondering about was “A heart is not judged but how much you love but by how much you are loved by others.” Somehow that sounds off to me…
Hope you’ve had a great week!

What a beautiful vacation you enjoyed – and love the mermaid tail and the window quotes. Beautiful family photos too, Wynne! Glad you had a wonderful time together.

Thank you, Ab! The mermaid tail — I think we are following the recommended order of things for little girls. First unicorns, then mermaid tails….:)
Hope you have a great weekend!

I thought so too. And just for the record – the only one of us doing “no clothes” is Mr. D. 🙂

Nothing like a stress free week looking at a wider horizon. Add the sun and sea and it becomes pure bliss. Glad you enjoyed a lovely week off Wynne. A ferry ride is always fun. I enjoyed a couple while on vacation. Will share in future posts. Thanks for sharing these dreamy pictures and the perfect quote.

Awww thanks Wynne, such a sweet thing to say. Time will hopefully loosen up for me in a bit. And I will get back to writing more regularly. Love that you write everyday. Not sure how you do it, but love it.

Oh, another Whidbey Island fan! It’s wonderful, isn’t it? And to be clear – the no clothes was just three-year-old Mr. D. 🙂 But you are right – sweet and great memories! Hope you had a great week!

Thank you for sharing your adventure and lovely photos!!.. I can see that you and family no doubt had a exciting time enjoying every moment!!.. “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming; “Wow! What a ride!” (Hunter S. Thompson)… 🙂
No doubt made many memories to store in your heart to visit for another time… can go on vacation and not leave home…. 🙂
Hope every day is a new adventure filled with happiness and until we meet again..
May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
Brightened by a song
in your heart,
And warmed by the smiles
of people you love.

Those sunset photos are gorgeous, but I like the peacefulness of dusk on the bay even more. I’m glad you had a great time. I always enjoyed taking the ferry across Puget Sound.
