The Blog Tour

Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.” – Joel Barker

I glanced at the maps on the stats page of my WordPress blog yesterday and was delighted the sight of this map:

There’s a fantasy I have in my mind of taking a blog tour. Loading my kids up in a RV and driving to see my blog friends. The WordPress stats don’t show me any detail within a country so going off the top of my head from where I think people live –  down the West coast, Oregon, California, Arizona, Texas, up through South Dakota, over to Colorado and then to the West coast of Canada and then Alaska, over to Chicago, Wisconsin, Philadelphia, New York, up to the East Coast of Canada, then back down to New York, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia.

Then hitting other countries – UK, Ireland, Belgium, Finland, Romania, Germany, France, Italy, Portugal, Malta, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Madagascar, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand. Then back through South America – Brazil, Ecuador then through Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, Mexico to home.

Who’s in for a blog tour? And though the physical thing would take a lot of resources, it is so amazing that this is where I get to travel each time I read something someone has written. This blogging thing is amazing!

  1. Yes! It really is amazing, this way of connecting with folks from all over! Visiting with you from California today. 😊

  2. Wow, Wynne, that’s such a wonderful dream–a very POSSIBLE one! If you really desire it, visualize it in as much detail as possible from the “end result,” which in this case would actually be you in the driver seat of your RV, waving goodbye to your home for several months, with Miss O and Mr. D very excited about the journey. The tank is fully, an overflowing abundance of funds, and on you go!
If you’re ever interested in learning more about picturing from the “end,” I highly recommend a little book entitled “The Power of Awareness,” by Neville Goddard. By the way, if/when you arrive in Canada to visit, you and your children have a humble place to stay. On one of my long motorcyle trips, I actually met a wonderful couple in Leggett, California, who were setting off in their RV. They actually stayed with me for two days, several months later.

    You’ve got this!

  3. This is a great idea, Wynne. I am thinking of doing a UK one and visiting the writers I have met on social media. If you ever make the UK, there will be a pot of best English tea waiting.

  4. I have had the same fantasy / idea / out of the box adventure Wynn. I figure I can do a short (2000 mile) circle and visit 10 blogger friends for $1000 if I am resourceful (pack a tent and sleeping bag). I would learn enough about touring then to do a bigger trip, then a bus tour with those who wanted to meet and greet new bloggers…ending with a blogger two day event someplace where the toured group could share their insights as they blogged along the way and built friendships…kind of out there but do-able.
On the flip side, a lot of bloggers wish to remain hidden behind their screens. they wear the t-shirt “Introverts Unite-separately”

    1. I love your vision of doing it small, working out the kinks and then a bigger trip, Gary! Put me on the list to visit and come along!

And great point about the bloggers who want to remain hidden. We can do a tribute for them to witness however they prefer!

  5. I wonder how many of us have had this idea- maybe especially regarding blogs we’ve followed for multiple years. Let me know when you have the RV ready. I’ll have coffee waiting and the kids can play at the park down the road!

  6. Great idea, Wynne. I’ve also been surprised by seeing my readers from Malaysia, Denmark, India, Israel, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, and France. I’ve been lucky to meet some of my U.S. blogging friends. No plans to venture out of U.S. for the time-being–at least until the airline chaos calms.

  7. What a beautiful idea, Wynne! My husband earlier today told me that he would like to make a tour of the West Coast. I immediately thought that I could meet with you! Unfortunately it is not going to happen soon, but we can make it happen!

  8. It’s so much fun to look at the stats map, especially the “all time” version. I was pretty stoked when I got a visitor from Greenland – it makes such a big chunk of pink on this particular map projection!

  9. I love the blog tour idea! If you ever want to see the cornfields of Amish country in Lancaster County- I’m your guy 👍. Seriously though, there is a lot of cool stuff to see around here besides corn and horses – it’s a great, versatile area to be part of.

  10. Wynne,
What a beautiful fantasy, and my part of Texas is beautiful in the spring when the wildflowers are dancing in the fields! This post reminds me of one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books, Oh the Places You’ll Go!
To the uncharted adventure in traveling! Mary

  11. I would LOVE to meet you Wynne! It’s wonderful that when we read and write, we’re able to reach people from all over. It’s a beautiful way to live that’s for sure!

  12. Maryland beckons, and I’ll be here . . . MEANWHILE, AND – OR . . . we could have a BLOGGER’S GATHERING somewhere in the middle and meet ourselves all in one place. Is anyone up for using their organizational skills and energy to plan such an adventure? In between writing blogs, of course . . . LOL

    1. I want so much to meet you, Julia! I had Maryland on my list for just that reason. But I’d do it somewhere in the middle too!

And sure, it’d take some organizational skills – but think about all the blog material you’d get! 🙂 ❤

  13. A blog tour would be great! I have met many blogging friends in real life. I’ve attended their weddings. Vacationed with them. Hell, I even married one. Blogging truly has changed my life.

    1. Wait a minute — I didn’t know Team TarMar is blogging offshoot. How cool is that!! You must have written about this – I’m fascinated. Can you point me to a couple of posts?

  14. I remember way back when – the Net first started and there was “communities” – I can remember what they were called ?IRC – and I met a bunch the chatters, real time – it was rather entertaining as I was classed as quite old then in my 40s, most were almost teenie boopers!

  15. Blogging is amazing introductions to places and people. There is an actual single mom with a blog, who packed up her kid to travel the world. Her name is Bionca, she has been at it for 5 years. Her current posts are a bit more polished, but the early years she really talks about the losses and the wins of van life. Here is a link to her blog https://www.offthegridwithakid.com/

      1. It is! Most of my readers are from the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. I have readers from other countries but not many.
