Photos of the week: April 16

It was just 2 weeks ago that my daughter started paddle boarding with my brother. Now he’s got her paddling on her own, albeit sitting down. I feel like I can completely endorse and celebrate that while complaining that time is going too fast.

The one time in a fortnight (thank you, Ally Bean for reminding me of that word) Mr. D chose not to wear his Superman costume. But thank goodness – he still was able to fly!!
Proof that I take my kids to the best places…this is the viewing room at the transfer station (aka the dump). Seattle Public Utilities has actually done a brilliant job of making learning about garbage interesting by making games of what is trash, recycling and compostable as well as showing the life cycle of trash. A cool place to go — just in time for Earth Day.
When Superman isn’t flying, he’s putting out imaginary fires.
Friendship
Mr D likes to get up early in the morning and get right to work with power tools. We are totally ready for an egg hunt!

  1. I’d hang out at your dump any time. What a great idea! The last time I had to go with a bunch of old paint/yard chemicals, etc I got to experience the world on the other side of that huge window. Gross! Great pictures this week Wynne!

    1. Oh, that first sentence cracked me up, Deb. Yes, the other side of the window isn’t as lovely or educational. πŸ™‚ Hope you enjoy the weekend!

  2. Such wonderful memories! Joy, joy, joy! Time does fly by. Your photos remind me of times with my son when he was young. I love hearing him recall a happy childhood memory now that he’s 28. You are building a rich treasure chest of memories for your children, Wynne. That’s the greatest gift of all ❀.

    1. What an interesting comment, Natalie. It’ll be so interesting to hear what my children remember when they are al grown up. But you are right, building the “treasure chest of memories” as you put it so well is the best!! Hope you enjoy the weekend!

  4. You’re in good hands with Superman. Love the photo of him with the hose and the power blower. Gonna be a big help in the yard in a few years! 😊 Hope you all enjoyed a nice egg hunt today too.

    1. I think he is going to be a big help but I also think he might be one of those people who at 80-years-old impatiently waits until a decent hour before turning on his power tools. πŸ™‚ It’s all I can do to get him to eat breakfast before starting the leaf blowing. πŸ™‚
