My friend drew a car on a napkin and held it up for my toddler to see. “D, do you know what this is?”
My son, looking both proud that he knew and a little concerned because we didn’t, replied, “Napkin!”

Children tell it like they see it. It brought to mind the fable of The Emperor’s New Clothes 🙂

I don’t think anyone really knows how intelligent young children are. My son knew which people I should avoid when he was still a baby. Anytime there was someone around whom he thought I should dismiss, he’d cry and wail until they left. They just have problems communicating what they know.

I love this story, G.J.! Yes, they are so close to the pulse of things and we are the fools that just can’t understand! 🙂 ❤
