Meditations on Life and Parenting
My kids and I were lucky enough to be able to play around in a hot tub on the deck of a moored boat yesterday. Even cloaked in the late autumn mist, the calm waters both inside and outside the break wall and wide open vista were stunningly refreshing.
Covid has brought us closer together with our neighbors. There are 10 kids on the block under age 8, median age 4-years-old and they’ve found a rhythm of playing in each others yards or in this case, when it was raining, in my garage. I know that the lasting effects of this pandemic have yet to be seen in full but locally, I love how these kids have bonded. When everything shut down, they all become less “scheduled” and have learned the art of old-fashioned play.
It isn’t even Halloween yet but we’ve already had a couple of events. My cheerleader (Addison from Zombies) is very good at helping my Baby Shark with the strange customs of this holiday.
It turns out that even amidst the feeding frenzy that is Halloween, Baby Shark is quite gentle at picking his candy.
