The exercise of looking through my photos of the week is always so fun because invariably I have forgotten some of the delightful things we’ve done: swimming, roller skating, rock climbing camp, fishing, and cute moments with the pets. But this week in review was especially rewarding because when I went to download our lunar eclipse photos, I also grabbed the Whidbey wildlife photos from earlier in the month.

We had so much fun watching the lunar eclipse. It looked a little like a Christmas ornament with a bright top. Or like these rocks on the wall at the beach.

  3. What’s that creature swimming, almost looks like a seal? Have a good weekend Wynne! We’re scheduled to go on a min-mini road trip with my mom this morning (she’s 92) I know she appreciates getting out of the assisted living place. How far is Whidbey Island from where you live?.

    1. It’s either a seal or a sea lion – I’m not sure. Whidbey Island is only 22 miles from where we live but it takes 2 hrs to get there because there’s a ferry involved.

      Love that you are doing a road trip with your mom! You are so good at connecting with others and making them feel great!

  5. When those 2 kids become famous climbers free soloing on El Capitan I will be able to say “I knew them when they were just starting doing some bouldering on a rock in a West Seattle Park” 🙂

    1. I know – it was a cool sight. The deer were pretty close – maybe 30 feet? And then someone who was swimming in the water shook out a part of their wet suit and it scared them so they ran away. But it was quite an encounter.

  22. Add me to the list of those who were surprised to see the deer on the Whitbey beach, Wynne. Cooper looks like I would after rock climbing lol. That sign is relevant from when we recently failed to take an umbrella out with us to the local diner and it started pouring while there. We waited it out as best we could but if ya don’t have the umbrella to open…that’s less work for it…and more for you. Maybe a bit more thought required…take the umbrella in the first place!😁

  27. What a lovely recap of the week. 😊📸 I love how photos capture little moments of joy: nature, pets, sports, and that beautiful lunar eclipse. Sometimes, when we look at photos, we realize just how many special moments we’ve experienced without even noticing.

  28. I’m sorry, but I beg to differ with the hardware store sign. An unopened umbrella absolutely works! No, it won’t keep you dry, but you can use it to joust with someone, pick up litter, provide trail support while hiking, stir paint, poke a hornet’s nest out of a tree, etc. It’s really quite versatile if you think outside the box.

  30. Excellent photos, I missed the eclipse because I was so tired from the week I chose to go to bed rather than stay up late. A teacher I work with vacationed in your area in late July with her young family. She shared her adventures on Whidbey Island- your pictures of the wildlife are very good. The sign cracks me up! Can’t wait for this week’s edition tomorrow. Enjoy the long weekend. Peace.
