“Some roads are so beautiful that you cannot know not whether you travel on the road or the road travels in you!” – Mehmet Murat ildan

We spent a lot of time in the car driving back from SF last weekend. So much so that when Miss O made a waffle, it kind of looked like a wheel.

We had as much fun as possible on our stops along the way back. But it was great to see the sign welcoming us home.

And to see Cooper and Simone.

We washed the car and got back to baseball (Mr. D is the catcher in orange).

I really appreciated the sign of the week after a week of buying gas on the road!

The drive home can be tedious, but you seemed to have made the most of it. xo

You are so right, Darlene! But apparently swimming pools and waffles help. 🙂

Glad there were lots of smiles, Wynne. Your highway tour reminds me of the Alfred Notes poem, “The Highway Man.” A different meaning of the word, of course.

Thank goodness we didn’t meet that kind of highway man as we traveled! Thanks, Dr. Stein!

Did you leave Cooper home? He looks a bit miffed. As his make-believe attorney it’s my duty to inform you that if you do that again he’ll be seeking an injunction to stop said trip and payment of ten boxes of large dog treats. He’s hurt. You should probably give him a good pat down full of lots of “good boys” to make it up to him! Ha ha. 🤣 🤣🤣🐶😎

Oh wow, I can see your career of doggie arbitration is going to get you a lot of customers, Brian. Okay, 10 boxes and a whole lot of “good boys.” Too funny!

Finally, I know you, Simone. It’s been a while I’m curious what’s your name.🤩🤭 Amazing photos, Wynne. Sounds like a great travel. Thanks to Simone. He made me smile wider😁

Thanks, Hazel. You’re right – we often just call her Kitty. Glad I finally revealed her name! Thanks for the lovely comment!

I agree about Mt. Shasta. It was a pretty scenic drive up the range – Mt Shasta, Lassen, Jefferson, Hood, St. Helens and then Rainier. What a show! Thanks, Todd!

Having children with me would have added laughter and the strength gained from caring for them along the way! I think I was braver when my kids were young! 🤗

I love miss O’s waffle and the family 4-leggers were not amused by your absence but happy to have you back in spite of themselves. At quick first glance I thought the sign read ‘ skedaddle’ but I suppose that would be more appropriate for when you are heading out of the city and not back in -)

Skedaddle — I love that, Beth! Yes, Seattle has our fair share of graffiti artists. 🙂

Looks like fun was had by all! I hope no stops at Taco Bell were included!

I’m giggling, Dana. No stops at Taco Bell but we’re tired of gas station food, Arby’s and Dairy Queen! 🙂

Oh that sign is hilarious! You can still get gas in Canada for less than $1.99…a litre! 😂

OMG. the taco bell gas joke was really fun – and glad you had a fun trip – the waffle did look like a wheel
and is that graffiti on the welcome sign?

You are right, Yvette. It is graffiti on the sign. We have a fair number of graffiti artists in this city so I guess it’s appropriate to have it on the Welcome sign. 🙂

Beautiful trip back. Simone looks a bit upset, maybe she didn’t like you going away😅

It’s always great to go and get back. I would argue while that while the waffle looked at the wheel, you sure it wasn’t a baseball that Mr. D. caught and crushed?! Tell him cards await for your next trip!!!💕

I have the same question as Yvette? Seattle-specific graffiti? I looked and looked and stared…but if there’s a message there, you’ll need to help me Wynne. Aside from that…another week…a well-traveled week, for sure! ❤️😊❤️

Funny question. No message that I can discern except for that Seattle has its fair share of street art. 🙂 Thanks, dear Vicki! ❤ ❤ ❤

What a beautiful drive home and a welcome reception from Cooper and Simone! 💕 Love the waffle wheel and the water fun. And had a chuckle again seeing the sign about gas. Sure ain’t cheap these days! Glad you three had a wonderful time in SF and drives.

Ah, you nailed it, Ab. It was a beautiful drive — and one that we made the best of, regardless of the price of gas. 🙂 Hope you all are enjoying your weekend! ❤

What were the gas prices you ran into (low to high)? Big week, and yep, it is always nice to get back home, regardless of how much fun I enjoyed elsewhere. I tend to sleep better in my own bed with my own pillow. I did wonder which mountain that was, so thanks for that memo @ the bottom 🙂
