Training with my young peakbaggers on a hike up Little Mt. Si. Ten-year-old Miss O was surprised when she saw the signs for the mountain. “Oh,” she exclaimed, “I thought it was Mt. S-I-G-H.” Well, there are some portions of the hike where that applies too!

Then we got to our January 1st goal — making it to the top of Tiger Mountain on NY’s Day! I’m so proud of these kids – and Cooper the dog too, of course!

  4. Well done, Cooper and gang!! I loved Mount Sigh. My daughter used to think that the Park & Ride sign meant it was by a fair ground where you parked your car and rode on the carnival rides! She wondered why we didn’t ever stop there. What a great day out for all of you.

  8. Those smiles are just priceless, Wynne – and I see the permanent teeth growing in for Mr D at the front! Your kids are getting a valuable childhood with so much outdoor play and exploration and it’s such a privilege to see them grow up through your posts. Wishing you all a great year ahead! 💕

  11. A hike that rekindled hikes my boys and I shared together in days of yore, memories I’ll forever treasure, as will you and Miss O and Mr.D when someday they’re hiking with their children and our older legs can no longer quite keep up.

  18. Loved every photo, Wynne. My favorite: those proud and happy faces next to the summit sign. That’s an impressive climb for anyone, but especially for two kids! I agree with other commenters–what a great way to start the new year: enjoying the outdoors, tackling a challenge, getting a good work-out–together as a family.

  22. What amazing pictures! I especially love Mr. D’s oversized boots… though, when did he get so tall?! 😳 They’re both so leggy lol. And the dog and kitty snuggles are the sweetest thing!

  30. Your kids had so much fun in hiking, and Cooper too, Wynne! It felt so good to achieve you  goal to make it to the top of Tiger Mountain on NY’s Day! I love the big smiles on their faces. ❤ ❤
