Photos of the Week: November 22

Each one of us can make a difference. Together we make change.” – Barbara Mikulski

The rope team for fixing the roof.

Haircuts. Mr. D just got a professional haircut but wanted to touch it up – for himself and also for Cooper.

Giraffes and gadgets. Mr. D was certain he wanted to buy that drinking helmet from our neighborhood gag gift store. Thank goodness it fits a spindrift can. 🙂

I love this sign of the week. And a little more of our stunning sunrise on Friday morning with a layer of Mr. Rainier visible under the clouds.

  1. Spectacular sunrise!

I literally never thought of putting the kids in the tub for haircuts! I just made them sit outside or in the garage no matter the weather. Especially Jeff who for years was the pretty short buzz cut kid. I assume the roof repair was successful? Or maybe you haven’t had any more rain to test it out?

    1. Yes, isn’t that sunrise spectacular. It was quite a show!

I’m laughing about the hair cuts. D wanted to cut his hair and I didn’t want to deal with the fall out so I thought the tub might work!

The roof repair seems to be holding. We only had one really rainy day but it worked! Thank goodness!!

  2. My first thought was I’m glad you are tethered while doing the roof work. With that relief in mind, I enjoyed the rest of your lovely week. A neighbourhood gag store can bring such fun for our kids. I’ll have to look for a drinking helmet in our part of the world. T would find it hilarious!

  3. Gorgeous sunrise. Love the quote and sign. 💞 You are so blessed to have such a great family team to work with, (and your children are growing up so fast! 😲 )

  4. This post made me smile — so many little snapshots of community, care, and everyday joy. 💛 The rope team fixing the roof, the haircuts, the giraffe moment, the sunrise… it all feels like a reminder that small acts and simple scenes really do make a difference. And that quote at the top ties it all together so perfectly. 🌅

  5. You might want to consider anchoring that red and white striped rope Ms.O is holding onto something a bit more hefty Wynne 🙄 … a caution Ellen always mentions when I’m up on the roof blowing leaves off
, and I dismiss by reminding her where my life insurance b
    policy is 😄

    1. Ha, ha, ha. Good one, Fred. I actually had the rope tied off somewhere sturdy. Miss O was just managing the slack for me. 🙂 But with that said, she’s a pretty good belayer when I weigh her down with weight bags too!

  6. Wow, multi-talented and brave lady to fix your roof! Good for you! This grandma braved the ladder a couple of years ago and glued a chimney cap on the chimney and painted the flashing with waterproof black stuff. Afraid of heights family bravely held the ladder and passed up equipment!

      1. I think so! We figured we’d at least give it a try before calling in a tradesperson, and what do you know, we did it! My daughter and I did a few if those kinds of things, we figured that at the very east if we had to call someone in, we’d at least have it disassembled for them. That’s how we earned to take a toilet apart and put it back together, ditto for removing the blower motor from the furnace. Us ladies can do a lot, can’t we?!

  7. So much fun in one week! So much productivity, too! I love how you and your fabulously photogenic crew combine the two things work with a playful spin. Good stuff! Happy Saturday! Hugs to all! 💝😊💝

    1. To be fair, Darlene, I was just trying to get it done in the most expedient way. I found a product that looked like it was made for my problem and then I set about getting it on there. 🙂 Thanks for the lovely comment!

    1. I loved that sunrise! Good question about kids and hair. I think it’s partly having some agency. And also, some hair on D’s head was sticking out sideways and he didn’t like it so it cut it off. Of course, it would have been better to just comb it… 🙂

    1. You have a good eye, Belinda. You’re right – Cooper is still bigger. But the vet says he needs to slim down. I think the kids took off at least a pound of hair. 🙂 Hope you are enjoying the weekend!

  8. Wynne, that sign speaks volumes. Together is the way for us all. I also like the idea of a rope team when hitting the roof. Another thing to do together…and certainly to do safer!
