Photos of the Week: November 1

The scariest monsters are the ones that lurk within our souls.” – Edgar Allen Poe

This post is dedicated to all the fun of Halloween!

Our costumes. Nobody even batted an eye at the alien abduction in progress at the hardware store. And Miss O’s tshirt spells it out – I’m a goldfish.

Mr. D’s 1st grade class had a field trip to Bob’s Corn and Pumpkin patch. Miss O missed out on field trips in Kindergarten and 1st grade because of Covid so I let her come to this one. She made the most of it!

Kids in sheep’s clothing. Dogs in kid’s clothing. This is the week for trading our skins!

100% Halloween from the sign of the week to my neighbor’s skeletons.

  1. I have always loved that Poe quote 🙂 I also so appreciate many of the photos that keep me in touch with my WA roots Wynne. This mountain view is a classic. Thanks!

  2. Halloween is always a great holiday for kids (and adults)! And this year it fell on a Friday! School was a little wacky, but I survived. I had my 17 seven six shirt on to celebrate along with Halloween PJ bottoms with the rest of my teaching team. And then I came home to give out candy. What a great day. Hope yours was amazing, too.

  3. What a joyful post, Wynne. Love the Goldfish costume and I howled at Mr D’s costume – because he and T had the same idea this year! 🤣💕😊

Halloween is such a fun time of the year and so thankful we get to experience it through our children’s eyes of wonder and innocence.

Good luck surviving the sugar highs this weekend!

    1. The sugar highs for me or for them? I swear I like candy more than they do. 🙂

How fun that D and T were the same thing. We went to an event where a four year old spent the whole night trying to figure out who else was in the costume!

You are so right about being able to experience this through our kids eyes. What a delight. Hope you all have a great weekend!

  4. Hehehe, what a cute dog! The kids are pretty charming too! 😉 So glad Miss O got to experience something she had missed during COVID, that’s important for kids!

  5. Oh my stars…and the moon and more…I didn’t slow down to read the comments from others…but am I the only one who wonders if Cooper is doing crystal ball readings on the side? I could see it as his side hustle with his luscious purple headgear/turban? Just me? LOL! 😁💝😁

    1. Oh, I think you nailed it, Vicki! You are so good at spotting things – yes, that is a cape so I think Cooper should open a booth somewhere. I’ll tell him that he can count on you as a customer! ❤ ❤ ❤

  6. Love the costumes! Such fun.

My favourite trick-or-treater last night was a little guy who saw we had the baseball pre-game on and stood at the front window and watched for a minute. I told him not to worry because the game hadn’t started yet. I think he was worried he was missing something important.

  7. The kids so cute, and so grown up! I was walking at a nearby park earlier this week and all the kids were playing soccer in their costumes… with lots of inflatable, including the alien abduction, a fat ballerina, and Garfield. It was delightful. I hope the kids had tons of fun! 😊

      1. I’m so glad to hear that the downpour didn’t interfere with the candy collection efforts! 😄🍬 Dr. Zeus lived in Redmond/Bellevue for nearly a decade and I’m always dumbfounded by all his stories flanked by walking in the rain. Seattleites won’t be stopped by a little precipitation. ☔

  8. Glad to see the entire family was all-in on Halloween, Wynne. It has been fun to maintain and even grow the joy in it as I have gotten older. I think a lot of folks go in the other direction and “outgrow” it, but when you’re like me and have never actually grown up, Halloween is so easy to love.

  9. There is so much to smile about in this Halloween post, Wynne! I love the goldfish and the alien abduction. Too funny! And “Kids in sheep’s clothing. Dogs in kid’s clothing. This is the week for trading our skins!” It was great that Miss O was able to go on Mr. D’s field trip. And the sign at the end? Another groan and grin! 🎃👻🥰

  10. Its lovely to catch up with you and your family Wynne. And at Halloween too, such a treat. The trip must have felt so special to Miss O as she missed out during Covid. They missed out on so much at that time, its good she’s able to catch up.

Its also amazing how much they have grown. X
