Photos of the Week: August 9

Relations are like electric currents. Wrong connections will give you shocks throughout your life. But the right ones light up your life.” – unknown

This week we were lucky to have one more week of vacation staying on the beach on Whidbey Island. The feeling that I have after these two weeks is of greater connection – in my little family, to nature, and to the flow between rest and productivity. I’m so grateful we were able to spend this time together.

Four of my favorite beach pictures from the week.

Horses and Shakespeare. We went to see a performance of Much Ado About Nothing and it was great! And Miss O and Mr. D were able to spend some time grooming and riding horses – and loved it. I’d call Miss O’s reaction to the horses – Much Ado About Something!

Taking photos. Behind me is the Deception Pass bridge.

Sign of the week and family picture of the year!

  1. I love all of these pictures. They make me miss my times with my kids when they were young. And children are never too young to enjoy Shakespeare! What a super holiday.

    1. Never too young for Shakespeare – I agree. When we went to Romeo and Juliet at the same festival and my kids were 8 and 4, Miss O said, “Wait, they both die?” 🙂 Ah yes, Shakespearean tragedy. Thanks, Darlene!

  2. I can feel the richness of connections you experienced sitting here 1800 miles away. Just a guess, but I’m thinking 2 weeks is a perfect amount of time to reset our souls/ relationships/ etc. etc @ the pace you did. Love the pictures. I need one of these (2 weeks/ change of pace)

    1. Thank you, Doug. It’s surprisingly hard to make two weeks happen but this morning I’m feeling the incredible benefit that it did. So glad you can feel the richness from there!! Thanks, my friend!

  3. That is indeed a family picture of the year, Wynne. It shows smiles and love and everyone having a good time. I like the selfie of you, too! You look so relaxed and beaming to be connected to Mother Nature again. Summer vacations with family are the best. ❤️ I can feel your happiness from, literally, across the country!!

  4. Oh Wynne, thank you for sharing. Build a deck, lovely. Building a family is hard work and your kids are growing up strong and connected. Love these weekly visits along the seashore, they’ll be ready for what’s next, sooner than you think. Peace.

  7. Such wonderful photos of your family, Wynne – and your selfie by the bridge is beautiful. Ms O and Mr D built an amazing Survivor-worthy shelter. They certainly had a super summer thanks to you! Hope you all continue to soak up the summer!

    1. You’ve got such a good eyd. Funny you say that about the shelter because a storm came in one day and the fort still stood! 🙂 I’ve had a great summer thanks to them too so it’s good all around. Hope you all are soaking up special summer memories for these last few weeks too! Thanks, Ab!

    1. Family vacations are hard to enjoy, aren’t they? A lot of preparation goes into them, it’s a different rhythm, and parents have to slow down as well – just to name a few of my challenges. I’m so grateful we had two weeks because it took some time to settle in. Thanks, Michelle!

    1. Thanks, Todd! Two weeks was awesome! Yes, Miss O built that shelter. She started it a few different ways but this is the one that lasted. A storm came in one day and it still stood! Thanks, my friend!

      1. Well, if he becomes a scientist, we’ll remember this post and celebrate the accomplishment. If it goes another way and follows a different path, we’ll celebrate anyway because your kids are going to succeed in any profession they choose.
