“More journeys should have no purpose other than to discover more and more beautiful things.” – unknown
We have been traveling this week. We’ve seen so many beautiful and amazing things and had a fantastic time with dear friends. Here are our photos – a few in Washington and most from Oregon.

Beachcombing and balancing in the tidal flats off Jetty Island in Possession Sound (Washington).

Ski lifts and smiles on Mt. Hood (Oregon)

We loved staying at the historic Timberline lodge on Mt. Hood. One of the things I was amazed at was the repeated use of this squared off arch shape from everything from the furniture (left is a dining room chair) to the wooden doors and stone archways (not pictured). Timberline is famous for being where they filmed The Shining but there were stills of other movies filmed there too – like a Lassie film.

Biking and bucks in Bend, Oregon. Notice the osprey in its nest in the upper right of the biking photo.

Heart rock from 7,000 feet on Mt Hood, gap-toothed grins (Mr D lost a tooth on this trip), and the sign of the week.
Lucky kids! The fun is evident, even with a lost tooth.

Looks amazing! That funny arch shape from Timberline almost looks like half a canoe.

Oh yes – you’re right. Mr. D reminded me that even the mirrors in the room were shaped that way. Funny!

great photos; that sign writer should do a side hustle at Lunn’s Lumber Yard 🙂

These are beautiful moments and precious memories! 💕 Those two bucks are so majestic and I love exploring a low tide beach. Looks like Mr D, whose toothless smile is adorable, found a shrimp or crawfish? I’m so happy to see three enjoying such a blissful summer. The best kind of no purpose adventures!

You have a good eye, Ab! Yes, it’s a shrimp.
The best kind are no purpose adventures – I totally agree, Ab! There were days this week that I didn’t know what day it was – and isn’t that a blessing?
So here’s to summer adventures!! XOXO!

Your kiddos look like they are having the time of their lives! Traveling is hard, especially with young children or old geezers like me. I started to reply to your post yesterday (more than once), got distracted, and when I went back to finish, sadly, the comment was gone. I do like this week’s sign very much and a little wine makes an old geezer like me, a little less grumpy. Though, I don’t recommend it for the kids..enjoy your week. Peace.

Ha, ha, ha, Clay. I don’t recommend it for the kids either! 🙂 Sorry about the missing comment. Better that than a missing bag!

Like I mentioned, I always wanted to spend the night at Timberline…preferably in the middle of a raging blizzard. The problem was, I never wanted to brave the road up the mountain during those conditions, so the scenery during most of my visits resembled yours. It’s beautiful regardless!

Oh, that’d be incredible in a storm but I wouldn’t want to drive up either. Hmm – I guess we have to come in summer and stay through winter… 🙂
