Photos of the Week: March 15

“We are just an advanced breed of monkey on a minor plant of an average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something special.” – Stephen Hawking

Featured photo is of the lunar eclipse. It was spectacular — and so considerate to be at a decent hour before I went to bed. What an incredible Universe we live in!

Cooper seems to think that walks around the neighborhood are mostly opportunities to visit with friends.

I thought the people out sailing on a rainy Saturday morning were pretty intrepid. Then I spoke with my brother and found out that he was one of them. Then I knew they were intrepid.

Mr. D and his friend don’t seem to mind the rain as long as the view is good and there are juice boxes.

The kids are hatching salmon at their school. Is that redundant? And you know we take our salmon seriously here in the Pacific NW when we made salmon slides.

Bringing our best drama to pictures. The second one is our attempt at Mary Poppins!

Mr. D looks like a teenager on with his pajama pants on his skateboard. But he wasn’t dressed that way because we were trying to be cool. Just getting cozy after a wet morning at the park.

  1. wow, that eclipse photo! so stunning and so glad you shared it with us. I love the salmon hatching at school initiative, it’s so relevant because as you said, salmon are so important to where you live.

  2. My husband stayed up to the middle of the night to watch the eclipse. I went to bed. I woke up in the morning to about 25 messages in our family group chat between him and our daughter who, like you, is on Pacific time so she saw it before going to bed.

  3. Oh, Cooper’s tender gaze at the rabbits is just precious. I can imagine what fun he must have every day walking in the neighbourhood and dropping by to say hi to his friends. The life of a well-loved dog!

And the photo of Mr D and his friend enjoying the rainy view with their juice boxes is equally precious. So many happy moments in your week!

    1. Oh, you picked out two of my favorites, Ab! It’s so funny – Cooper doesn’t make a sound but just watches the rabbits so intently. And the juice box friendship kills me!

Hope you had a great week, my friend!

  4. I love Cooper’s expression whilst looking at the rabbits and all the other photographs show so much love ( let’s not forget the hard work too 😊 ) that I’m thinking lucky Cooper, lucky children, brilliant Mum. The universe ain’t that bad either! 😉

      1. Miss O LOVES the crackers in the lunchables. I have bought so many crackers trying to match what they have and none of them have been as good in her estimation. Oh boy!

  5. Nice shot of the eclipse! I went to bed before the Blood Red Moon and the eclipse, apparently my need for sleep comes before viewing celestial events. Years ago when we had a dog and took her for walks, it seemed as though the most important aspect of it was to pick up her “pee-mail”! She had her doggy friends in the neighborhood and they visited one another on their walks. One of the other dogs insisted on stopping in front of our house and barking until we opened the front door so the 2 dogs could greet each other. Dogs have friends too!

    1. I love this story, Tamara! You are so right about the doggie friends. It’s so cute.

The eclipse timing was better suited for pacific time — but I didn’t stay up to see it go all the way either. 🙂

      Have a great week, Tamara!
