“The scariest moment is always just before you start. After that, things can only get better.” – Stephen King

In honor of Valentine’s Day, here are some of the pairs in our neighborhood.

We went to the local pub to watch the second half of the Super Bowl. Shirley Temples (for them), wine (for me), Foos ball, and french fries – it was a win all the way around!
We were all hyped up on sports. So we came home and turned on The Mighty Ducks (Disney hockey movie from 1992). It inspired all sorts of play this week.

Miss O had to have two teeth extracted. I was struck at how similar the picture looked from when Cooper tried to steal the carrot off a snowman earlier in the week. Family resemblance, I guess! ๐

We played at a really cool playground in Seattle Center

To get to the slides and walkways, you had to climb cargo nets. There was one that went straight up like a ladder but five-year-old Mr. D didn’t want to go that way. So he tried the cargo nets but it required some big steps. I climbed up alongside him and helped only on the last step.
The next time, he did it all by himself (see his feet disappearing in the first picture of the set). The amount of well-earned pride he felt was delightful and infectious.

Cooper at school with the kids channeled that same sense of smugness. As does the sign of the week!
Looks like it was a fun week! Nice climbing D๐ Miss O looks much happier than I would have expected after the tooth extractions! ๐

She was such a good sport about having teeth pulled. Which is good because she needs to go back in two weeks to have two more pulled! Hope you enjoy the weekend, Todd!

Pretty soon you and Miss O will be mistaken for sisters. Not Mr D, unless it is a gray foggy day on top of a mountain from miles away.

Ah, that is a wonderful compliment. Miss O is lovely and you’re right – D is growing up to be his own man!

I hope Miss O is feeling better after her dental work! How did she handle the recovery? I imagine it must have been quite a challenge for her. Looking forward to hearing more!

She’s fine. Apparently, it isn’t as traumatic to remove baby teeth as it is for permanent teeth. Thanks for checking on her, Sajida.

Hard to pick a fave this week…are you doing that on purpose? I’m leaning toward Cooper’s expression — so fabulous. Can you bottle that feeling and distribute widely? I think there’s a market for his brand of joy! ๐

They didn’t have playground like that when I was young. We did go to the Science Center all the time and played at the fountain. Is the fountain still there?

Ah, also great places to play. Yes, the science center and fountain are still there. This is over by where they built the Experience Music Project – pretty cool, huh?

Yes, it’s pretty cool. I have never been to the Experience Music Project. Whenever I visit Washington, I end up on the East side. My college best friend and my brother are both there. I don’t think they venture into Seattle very often.

Wynne, your side-by-side pics of Miss O and Cooper remind me of an artist called ArtButMakeItSports. They take sports photos and match them with works of art that have similar poses, compositions, etc. They are very clever, and provide an interesting view of the world through different lenses. Thought you might enjoy seeing that.
