Photos of the Week: January 18

“If what you believe in does not impact how you behave then what you believe in is not important.” – Shaykh Yassir Fazaga

Cooper appreciates all the kind thoughts afger dog park incident, especially those who suggested chicken (thanks, Todd). Please rest assured that he’s gotten plenty of treats (like a pup cup from Starbucks) and rest. Also shown, our less photograph family members- the cat and the gecko (asleep under the plastic axolotl).

The moon on foggy mornings.

My kids thought I looked funny on our spa night. They might have a point but not everyone can look as cool as Miss O.

The night after our spa night, Mr. D looked at me so seriously and said he was going to draw my portrait (first picture). Not sure whether the spa night pic or portrait is more flattering. 🙂 Personally, I think Mr. D’s “I licked a lemon” pic takes the cake!

The weather has been cold here (low 40’s) but not cold enough to preclude being out on wheels.

Miss O and Mr. D wanted to walk to the neighborhood grocery store on their own. I found this pic on my phone when they returned. I love the peek into what they were noticing along the way. Also, Miss O said she heard the longest dog howl ever and saw a crow pecking at a wire. Fascinating these leaps of growth and independence.

The sign of the week is a tune we are going to keep on playing. Thankful to people who have shown us how like Martin Luther King, Jr..

  1. Thank you for sharing some wonderful pictures. I loved the lighting on the house and the MLK sign of course. My kids are quite a bit older and they now hate to have their pictures taken. Make the most of things. Take care, Julian

  2. Gorgeous moon photo. It is quite a privilege to watch Miss O grow up, especially given her likeness to you, Wynne. Two beauties. The quote and the sign remembering MLK are much appreciated. The baton has been passed to us.

  3. I just read your Jan. 15th post about Cooper’s trauma (and yours). It could have been a lot worse, and I’m glad he’s okay. All of your photos here are lovely. l particularly love your spa day ones, though. Miss O looks regal in her mask, like a ballerina. On the other hand, based on Mr. D’s drawing, you Wynne need another spa MONTH, pronto! 🙂 I’m a big fan of Martin Luther King, Jr. The U.S. is a country in crisis. The sign is a great reminder. Thanks, and hope you have a great weekend.

  4. Great pics. Bravo for LETTING your kids be independent, too many parents aren’t doing so these days. And, I am always taken aback yet again when I see pics of green grass in the winter!! 😊

  5. Great pics! I didn’t know you had a cat- he/she’s beautiful 🤩 I also didn’t know you have palm trees in Seattle 🤔 😁 Miss O’s all pink skating outfit is (as my kids would say) “on point” 😎. I also love that you let the kids walk to the store by themselves 💪🏻

    1. Yes, the cat doesn’t get as much face time on this blog. 🙂 But you’re right, she’s beautiful! The palm trees are funny – but they’ve been in this neighborhood for at least 20 years so I guess they are doing okay. Hope you have a great weekend, Todd!

  6. Your face mask spa treatments look like a lot of fun. And how amazing that Miss O and Mr D got to go to the local store on their own. You are helping them build their independence.

I forgot you had a cat. It’s nice to see her make a rare appearance!

    1. The funny story about the store is that Miss O handled all the money and Mr D carried it all home. I guess figuring out how to divide labor is part of the independence too!

Hope you all have a great weekend, Ab!

  7. My heart melted at our beloved Mr. D playing a guitar! May this quote follow him throughout his life – “Never let the music die inside you; keep playing the song of your soul.” Fun capture of the moon, fog and green building! 💕💕💕

  8. What a wonderful post! I should do a week in photos… then again, I’d have to cull through about 4 dozen photos as I am a “Kid-Kodak” when I go out on my walks…

How fun to have a spa day!

Mid-40’s is cold? Jeez… that’s short weather up here! 😉

    1. I love that you take lots of pictures. I find it so fun to go through and pick ones for this post each week. It’s like reliving all the fun.

And I’m laughing about the shorts. Thanks, Dale!

      1. I take a ridiculous amount of photos. In a half-hour walk at lunchtime, I can take over 20… it’s an illness, Wynne! 😉

        Everything is relative, of course!
