“There must be more to life than having everything.” – Maurice Sendak

Practice, practice, practice!

This weekend, we’re back at the beach on Whidbey Island visiting our favorite heron. Its print in the sand is as big as my foot.

Whidbey Island wildlife

As much as I love this beach in the summer, I think I might like it even more in October. The driftwood is awesome, it feels quieter (not that its ever very loud or busy), and the sun is milder so we aren’t having to run for the shade or the pool.

If Cooper could read, he’d put the knife down. Maybe the sign of the week only applies to humans because he still attracts a pretty nice tribe. 🙂

Whidbey was clearly waiting for you to return! Enjoy your special place and say hi to the heron! 🥰

The heron probably thinks Cooper is a pain but hopefully the rest of Whidbey is glad we’re back. 🙂 Thank you, my dear friend! ❤

Another action-packed week! I sure hope Cooper doesn’t hurt himself with that knife. Ouch!! 😊

It’s part of a Halloween costume so no children or animals were harmed in the taking of these pictures. 🙂

What beautiful photos, Wynne. I love that the school organizes these activities for family. And the photos of the kids by the beach are so lovely. I love the weather this time of year.
And Miss O and I share another connection – I also played the clarinet in school!

Cooper wins the day, again. I played clarinet and while I wasn’t good at it I liked playing it. I suppose there’s a lesson that experience…

I played clarinet too, Ally! This rental we got is a really pretty instrument and all of a sudden I felt nostalgic. 🙂

The picture of your footprint next to that of the heron jumped out at me. What a bird that must be!

Sounds like you and your made your weekdays count! The beach and the sea in October both sound nice. I am sure the sun feels great. This weekend finds us at our refuge, too. Enjoy and refresh. Peace.

Mr. D is young yet, but based on that photo of him running in the rain, I’d say you’ve got a natural on your hands there. His form is perfect!
Perfectly framed, awesome pic of the Space Needle!

Big fan of things like move-a-thons. I hope some of the staff participated with the kids. We had PE at the end of the day. I made no apologies for showing up at school meetings all hot and sweaty.
If Cooper starts filetting his hamburger or steak, I will really be impressed.

I hadn’t even thought of Cooper being useful with a knife… 🙂

My youngest daughter played the clarinet in high school. My oldest the saxophone. All the days of attending band recitals. Now my granddaughter plays the violin, so we attend orchestra instead of band. But I love hearing the kids play and watching how they improved each year.

The kids look so happy to participate in the fundraiser. That’s one big heron considering its footprint size!

I love your “photos of the week” posts. Miss O and Mr. D are having a blast. Cooper is such a good dog. He is handling the knife pretty well and even trying to give it to you the right way, handle first. He couldn’t hurt a soul with that face—I think. 😂
