Photos of the Week: October 5

We are the windows through which our children first see the world. Let us be conscious of the view. ” – Katrina Kenison

We enjoyed great views when riding bikes in West Seattle.

West Seattle has some funky old houses that have been there for generations. Kinda fun to see these little bungalows triumphantly holding their ground between the new high rises that are popping up along the waterfront.

Mr. D shows that it doesn’t take many times hanging out at the skate park to pick up some tricks and start looking like a skater dude. But Miss O looks like a dancer wherever she goes.

Cooper has a new friend. Riffing off the sign of the week — I lost my dog because I left the water running.

I had the good fortune to stop in to Dunn Lumber this week to get a few pieces of wood. I complimented them on their signs.

  1. Always such a fun view from Alki! That flower house was featured on the news not long ago if I remember correctly. Kudos to the owners for all the work they put in. Which one is Coop? He’s found his doppelganger I think 🙂

    1. I was wondering what that flower house looked like in winter. Do you have any idea? Not sure I venture over there very often when it’s blustery. But wow – it is amazing!

Coop’s new friend is named Herbie and he’s the one wearing the harness. They’re pretty cute together!

      1. Nope, no idea. The news story was related to something going on West Seattle/Alki area from earlier summer so the house was all decked out in floral already! Perhaps they are seasonal decorators like your friendly skeleton house- I imagine that would be overwhelming 🙂

  2. It really didn’t take Mr D long to master “the look”, did it?! And I hope that forlorn little bungalow owner holds out for a very, very good price from some developer!!

  3. Those are some great photos by the water. And that little bungalow among the high rises brought to mind the movie, Up.

Mr. D looks like he’s in his zone.

Miss O – you can’t camouflage the dancer with roller skates, but it’s cute!

  4. Love the views you share with your kids and all of us! A fabulous way to see the world, day by day, one sight at a time. You’re the best Wynne. Hope your dog didn’t wonder too far. Hugs, C

  5. Wonderful view of Seattle and the crew, as always. The kids are growing in experience and knowledge, and the evidence is visible.

  7. What a nice and scenic bike ride you all enjoyed! I couldn’t help but notice the longer and thicker clothes you have on. How I miss summer already!
