Photos of the Week: August 24

Did I offer peace today? Did I bring a smile to someone’s face? Did I say words of healing? Did I let go of my anger and resentment? Did I forgive? Did I love? These are the real questions.” – Henri Nouwen

Young Cooper had another week of ups and downs.

First, was the day that Mr. D abandoned a strawberry popsicle on the edge of the counter. Cooper was the first to notice and positioned himself under the drip. It was like manna dripping from Heaven.

Second, was Miss O’s birthday. She got a gift card for her favorite Boba tea shop and was elated. Then Cooper stole her wallet, took it outside, left the bills all strewn about, and chewed the Boba gift card. So the next day, he had to do the perp walk with Miss O to the Boba shop to see if they could still redeem the card. Fortunately, they could still read the numbers on the card, and all was forgiven.

On the subject of interesting pets, Rusty the Crested Gecko shed his skin. Does he look all new and shiny?

We had bike camp this week.

The delightful Miss O turned nine-years-old and let everyone (including Cooper) help blow out the candles.

Handsome Mr. D graduated from pre-school.

In the ingenuity of kids category, we have a picture of a unique way to beep an electronic door lock. Miss O had Mr. D to put her backpack on (the key was in the front pocket), then lifted him up to the door to buzz it. Oh, to have that much energy…

Which I thought paired nicely with the sign of the week.

  4. Wynne, I think you need to write a children’s book on Cooper’s adventures! What a ridiculous goofball… or as my dad called our childhood dog, Oh, Ya Big Galoot, You!!

Also, the birthday and preschool grad photos. Be still my heart.

  5. So many wonderful moments! Happy birthday to Miss O and congrats to Mr D!

How fascinating to see the shedding of the skin. What a hands on and experiential science lesson for the kids!

Enjoy your final week of summer break!

    1. Yes, the gecko shedding was fascinating. Especially because he ate it as it came off. There’s a metaphor in there somewhere… 🙂

I hope you all enjoy your final week as well!! ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Excitement and ingenuity – well said, Rebecca! Yes, Cooper stopped chewing just in time. And you can tell from the “perp” walk pic that he doesn’t look at all sorry. 🙂

  6. Congratulations to Mr D on graduating. He must be feeling ‘grown up’. And Happy Birthday to Miss O. I hope she had a lovely day
I don’t doubt you would have had fun celebrating with them both

  7. Joy in it all, except maybe the popsicle eating. I hope Cooper’s stomach didn’t have any major disruptions (ie, I hope he just enjoyed the drip, and not the entire popsicle stick!). Ahhh, the sweet aspects of life.

  8. the gecko is so cute and even though Cooper was acting like a bit of a grinch, he was just trying to join in the fun. brilliant idea for the door lock process.

  9. I chuckled my way through this one, starting with the realization that those little red spots on Cooper’s face were popsicle drips that somehow missed the mouth. I confess to a moment of ick when thinking about the gecko skin-eating debacle, but I guess that’s all just nature’s way, right? I open my door electronically too, without having to dig through my purse for keys, but Ms. O’s creativity is genius! It makes me wonder about what lies ahead in her future. Congrats on big milestones. Thanks for the lovely opening quote and the many giggles. Another wonderful week in the adventures of the Wynne kids and dog. Love it!

    1. I don’t know how I missed this. Oh, actually I do — it was throwing a 9 year old birthday party. Love this comment, Julia. Yes, there was an ick-factor with the skin eating but in a can’t look away kind of way! 🙂

  10. Wynne, you made me laugh with your comment about manna dripping from heaven and Cooper with strawberry juice on his face. Hilarious. Miss O with a leadership book—yes. 🙌🏼 congratulations to Mr. D and Happy Birthday to Miss O.
