When we were on vacation, there was a seal that swam every night in the bay. Even though I knew roughly when he’d show up and where, the best I could do is a snap of his face and his splash. I salute the patience and talent of wildlife photographers.

It made me even more grateful for the herons and eagle that sat still long enough for me to photograph them. So very cooperative!

Cooper was happy to have us home. Unfortunately, he got a little piece of grass stuck way down in his ear and had to have it surgically removed this week.

  2. I’m trying to imagine how anyone, including a dog with long floppy ears, manages to get a small piece of grass way down in his ear! That much take special talent! 😳 Glad it got figured out and fixed.

    1. It is pretty weird! Unfortunately it’s a grass called a foxtail with these little barbs that make the thing only move in one direction. Coop kept shaking his head and that just moved it farther down, I guess.

  6. Oh…the kids, the kids. The wildlife! The Byron quote. Ah. Love, love. But I’m still wondering what amount of chaos Cooper got into in order to get a chunk of grass wedged in his ear? That furry boy. Good grief! 😜

    1. I think it was just that the grass got attached and is designed to only move in one direction. With each head shake, it just burrowed deeper. Ouch!!

  11. What a beautiful week you had, Wynne! Love the sign of the week. 🙂 As for plum picking “the hard way and the easy way”, do we really know which is which from a kid’s point of view? Maybe the more fun way is the easier way?

  12. I love the pictures of your home life. So much joy (and chaos too, I imagine) and love. That plum tree is a metaphor for the abundance of sweetness in your life, ripe for picking and enjoying, Wynne.

      We have 2 1/2 more weeks before school starts so we’re trying to eke out a little more fun! Hope you are enjoying every drop of summer too!

  13. That eagle–wow! So blessed with that giant plum tree. Yum! And the sign–lol. Love that one. Also, poor Cooper. Adorbs pic of him. Still really like that outdoor rug of yours. Totally my style. 🙂

      1. I don’t believe you had plums at the time I was there. Missed out on that, but the tree was pointed out to me. 🙂 And I like rugs, browns and greens, and leaves, so the rug was a slam dunk to me. 🙂

  15. It’s so fantastic how you are creating and capturing memories with your children! My ‘baby’ is 35, and I wasn’t as diligent at capturing all the memories. I was so sure I would never forget a moment, and with my son’s recent birthday, I found myself trying to recall certain events and dates. I do have photo albums and such but it’d been nice to have more information attached to those images.
