Photos of the Week: July 6

And so with the sunshine and the great burst of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” – F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

It feels like we’ve settled in to summer. Here’s how I know:

Because we’re hiking.

Swimming

Enjoying the 4th of July

Adopting Rusty the Crested Gecko. Okay, that has nothing to do with summer, but it happened this week.

Learning to play the ukelele, celebrating a yellow belt in Aikido, and the because the sign of the week reminds us to go the beach every day!

  1. Love all of these…but I must inquire…did I spy, with my little eye…yet another photo bombing moment for Cooper? Is he munching on something he found on the trail? (Scratch that – of course he is!). xo! 😜

    1. That is so funny. I was a kid when we lived in the Philippines but that is exactly what my mom said about geckos – she remembers them running all over the place. Funny coincidence, Barb!

  2. The fireworks photo jumps off the screen. I was a yellow belt in Taekwondo. Especially loved sparing with the young bucks. How about you Wynne? Why do I think you have several belts under your belt? 🙂 You captured such great expressions on the kids faces! Speaks life. You’re doing a good job Mom! (fyi, there are NO perfect parents) My eldest (she’s 44) and I were texting back and forth about that issue this week. Her eldest (she’s 18) just moved in with us for the summer, before starting college…I am just amazed @ how she turned out..,. Kids are so resilient.

    1. I love that your granddaughter is staying with you for the summer. How wonderful! You are right – no perfect parents and thank goodness they are resilient!

I love that you were a yellow belt, DM. No belts for me but I love watching some of their practices – so many great moves!

      Thank you, Doug!

  3. Looks like a wonderful start to the summer. May it feel long and joyful for you and the kids!

What does Cooper think about the latest addition to your family?

    1. Ah, you know the question to ask, Ab. Cooper has taken to lying near Rusty’s enclosure so that anyone that finds the nocturnal gecko boring will pet him instead. 🙂

    1. Oh, but it’s a dry heat. I keep thinking about you and that line and giggling. Unfortunately, we are not at the beach but should be through the worst of it after tonight.
