“You are doing better than you think you are.” – Jeffrey R. Holland
Sometimes I get to the end of the week and think that it’s been so busy that I’m not going to have any photos to post. Then I look through the camera roll and am amazed at all we’ve done, even on the weeks we’ve been tired and barely keeping it together. Huh, doing better than I think we are, just like the quote says.

We visited an old-fashioned arcade so the kids can understand any pinball references in culture and media.

Sometimes I have the distinct feeling that the house has a ghost in it. So weird when it’s singing “Baby Shark”

It “warms” my heart that we are getting out to play outside more and more. Even when the players are trash-talking the photographer. We still need hot chocolate afterwards though. Guests might want to turn down the offer of marshmallows when they see how it’s prepared…

I love that Seattle has dog drinking fountains.

“Look, Mom, I can fly.”

Heart of the week…
Love these moments. No wonder you’re tired because you’ve done a lot! After the pinball arcade, did you show them an old fashioned corded phone too? 😆 I love the dog fountains too. A sign of an evolved city!

I’m laughing about the corded phone. Where does one find one of those?? 🙂
Hope you all have a great weekend, my friend!

I had a boss who would get upset with my tangled up phone cord and stand over my desk and unravel it daily. He bought me a new cord and surprised me with a work of art. It was my old cord mounted in a plexiglass box with a gold sign “Tanglecord” with my name underneath!

And I love seeing your kids playing on all that green stuff on the ground, instead of white stuff, without jackets, mitts, or boots. That must be what they call grass! 😏 Happy spring!!

Right, Jane! Happy spring to you too – hope you see some grass soon.

I had no idea that dog drinking fountains existed! Thanks for the enlightenment, Wynne.

Lol…it took me a minute to figure out the ha-ha about the marshmallows…so Mr. D’s an official, royal taste-tester, too! I’ll still take a mug…send it right over, k? 😎

Love the watermelon, and it’s a reminder that summer will come! I had to laugh over the cocoa pic- I thought maybe Mr. D had resurrected an old pacifier at first glance then I put the entire scene together and realized he was just pre-warming his marshmallow 😉

Pre-warming his marshmallow – that is hilarious, Deb! Exactly!

The photo of hot chocolate being prepared is priceless. I also like the kids at the pinball machine. What memories for me…

Siblings playing air hockey and waiting turns to play pinball. Now that brings back some memories. And I must add, air hockey is man’s greatest invention!!!! The best game ever, especially when you manage to careen the air hockey puck against the wall just the right amount of time and manage to beat your older brother!!! Love the pictures. Happy Saturday.

Hmm, do I note a personal note to that story, Brian? I agree about air hockey – it’s a great game. It’s amazing how much time (and how many quarters) we spent in this arcade – but it was fun! Happy Saturday to you!

I love your photos of family having fun. Very joyful! I grew up in Snohomish, near Seattle.

I remember that from our Whidbey conversation. Does any of your family still live up here or have you all migrated to places where it snows on alligators? Thanks for the nice comment about the photos.

That’s right, the Whidbey Island conversation. My mom lived in Redmond and my brother and family live in Woodinville. My dad moved down to the “sun” by me. Mom passed away in January. We’ll be spreading her ashes on the Stillaguamish River on property we’ve owned for a couple generations in Robe. Have you ever heard of Robe, WA?

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. I had to look up Robe because I didn’t remember it but I’m sure I’ve driven through it on the Mountain Loop Highway because I remember Verlot. So sorry for your loss.

Thank you for your kind words about my mom. Yes, Robe is by Verlot. Now there are hiking trails nearby. Robe once had a post office and train going through by a silver mine. Now it’s our bit of wilderness and beauty on the river.

I think ghosts should always sing Baby shark shark shark to alert us to their presence! Good pinball/air hockey education there. Ours has included billiards and pong as well. 🙂

That Baby Shark song has some serious legs. It looks like a good time. I have a question about the hot chocolate prep – and well done, young man. Was that a process marshmallow, or did it end up back in the cup 😉
LikeLiked by 1 person
Great question, Michelle. I think that marshmallow was eaten in the process and only mini-marshmallows made the cup. But as I say for many things around my house, I couldn’t say for sure! 🙂

Do people still make pinball references?

Hmm, good point, Jeff. I think so – as in “the ball pinballed around the court.” Right?

The thing I miss most about Rapid City has got to be Press Start, the vintage arcade tucked away in the basement of a restaurant. Many a quarter was spent there! Plus, they served alcohol. Frogger + whiskey? Win/win, Wynne!

Frogger! I didn’t see that game in there – maybe we have to go back. Not only a fun game but the basis of many cultural references too.
This space had alcohol too and I didn’t know about it til a week ago even though I’ve lived here 30 years. Maybe there’s an arcade near you that you haven’t yet discovered?
