“Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.” – Roger Miller
It was the second week of January and we didn’t have much going except National Puddle Jumping Day on January 13th.

We prepared by wearing our rain gear even when sunny.

And wearing rain gear when cooking.

And rain gear when playing the piano.

When the day came, the weather (in Seattle!) didn’t cooperate so we had to fill up our favorite puddle ourselves. And our favorite uncle came and helped Miss O empty it out…

There was one member of the household not excited about National Puddle Jumping Day.

In light of all this, perhaps it’s fitting that my heart of the week is… a puddle!
Here’s hoping the puddle dries out and the light mends your puddled heart asap!

Puddle jumping is such a quintessential moment of childhood and how wonderful there’s a national day to celebrate just that. Adorable photo of the kids and Mr D in his rain gear!

Puddles are fun, whether you jump in and splash, or hop across, or wander around the edge. The possibilities are endless.

Love how Mr. D was preparing for the rain ahead of time. And making your own puddles when the rain didn’t show up. Some good lessons there, besides the fun pictures! 🤍

Good point about the lessons, Kendra! The weather doesn’t always cooperate with our fun plans – even in Seattle! 🙂 ❤ Hope you are having a great weekend! XOXO

I loved the idea of making your own puddles when they don’t arrive on cue. I agree, playing in puddles is such a fun part of childhood – I love watching kids have fun.

What a great comment, Brenda. Yes, it’s so fun to watch kids have fun, isn’t it? Thank you, Brenda!

definitely – I don’t remember it, but my mum said she had a major keeping me out of puddles after watching Andy Pandy as a toddler – apparently he played in the puddles – so I copied.

I need puddle jumping rain gear like Mr. D’s! Of course, I love the heart!

Yes, why don’t they make some of this gear in adult sizes? Right, Mary? It’s very functional – but perhaps a little warm to be zipped into a rubber suit. 🙂
