“The morning steals upon the night, Melting the darkness.” – William Shakespeare!

Like any good parent, I let my kids play at the dump. 🙂 But as I’ve said before in pictures of this particular transfer station, Seattle Public Utilities has made a really cool place for education and observation of the garbage process.

The story of the week was snow and ice and we did our best to enjoy it! Even the neighborhood skeleton has icicles (lighted and real)!

Sunset on the winter solstice. And then, even after the longest night, the sun rose in glorious fashion!

Our attempt to make reindeer cookies Vicki style from her Holiday Hijinks post.

The heart of the week might be (wo)man made but no less authentic. Merry Christmas everyone!
May all your beauties continue their excursions into the inner and outer world. It is easy to imagine you will guide them well, Wynne. Happy Holidays!

It’s snowing. Oh, the joy of a child. Now here’s my reaction in my car yesterday when icy/rainy/snow started falling: “$&@!$ snow, why does it have to $&@!$ come now!” Um, I think I like your kid’s reaction better. Ha, ha. Thank you! Merry Christmas

Oh, I was with you on that reaction to snow a few days before Christmas too, Brian! But I tried to relax and settle into something a little closer to my kids reaction. 🙂
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Brian!

Wow, what a super interesting and fun place to enjoy with the kids. Not dumpy at all!
And I love your ghoulish Christmas decorations. I will show T who will love it too and want one for our yard.
Wishing you three the merriest of Christmas!

Not dumpy at all – that’s the perfect phrase for it.
The neighbors with the skeleton dress it differently for each holiday. It is pretty spectacular – but I think a lot of work too. 🙂
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! Hope you have a lovely day and a fantastic 2023!

Oh – what fun! Thanks for the reindeer cookies giggle…truly one of my family’s favorite traditions and I love what Mr. D and Miss O created – yummy! All the pics were special, per usual, but I’m curious about Mr. D and his pensive/perplexed look — in front of the garbage observation window. I see he had Bun-Bun with him…did one of them – Mr. D or Bun-Bun – have a big inquiry on their minds? LOL!
xo! 😉❤😉

A very good question, Vicki! I think another kid had borrowed Mr. D’s garbage truck that we brought with us and he was considering whether he could roll with that. 🙂 Merry Christmas, my friend! ❤ ❤ ❤

I love Seattle but have never had the, uh, pleasure of the dump tour. ha ha It’s been a couple years since my son and I have driven down to enjoy a sports event but those trips are always special to us. I enjoyed your pictures and hope you enjoy your Christmas, and the baking♥

Another week of awesome memories! That skeleton looks like a Zozobra statue! I attended a ceremonial burning a few years ago in Santa Fe, NM and it was an incredible event!

What a neat idea to make a compost and garbage place for kids to learn – I wasn’t aware they had that in Seattle. The cookies turned out adorable, and love the snow heart. Great pictures, Wynne! Happy holidays! 🤍🤍

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a dump with a play area before. Great idea! And I love that you have a neighborhood skeleton.

Okay, the dump sounds pretty cool, and I LOLed at that opening line. Love the heart on the fence. Would be SO impressed if you made those shots from a distance. Sunrise/set pics–always winners. And forgot to mention on the other post–Airbnb by the sea–my, how lovely.

Oh, you totally picked up on that snowball thing. You do know me!! No, I didn’t do that from a distance. I started doing it from a distance and couldn’t make any recognizable pattern. 🙂
Yes, the AirBnB by the sea – it even has a good cadence. 🙂
