Photos of the Week: Aug 6

Time wasted at the lake is time well spent.” – unknown

We were lucky to spend the last day of the PNW heat wave with friends at a lake cabin. It was definitely the right way to beat the heat!

For the kids’ birthdays, the Tumblebus, a full-sized bus that has been converted to a mini-tumbling gym, pulled up front for a fantastic party bus. It was so impressive to watch the guy parallel park the bus!

The August mornings have been a little bit darker which is delightful for my morning yoga and meditation time. The kids are great at staying in bed and not interrupting my sacred time – but the cat not so much. She brought a baby bunny in the house early in the morning (see corner of the room in the picture) and then I had to get creative about how to get it safely out of the house without waking the kids. Good news – the bunny was just fine and lived!

What were you running around doing this week?

    1. I’m so grateful that the bunny survived too. The cat is not always that gentle. Phew! Hope you had a great week too. Thanks for commenting!

      1. I’m so glad to hear that, Victoria. We all have to go through that newbie phase and it’s a great process of find our footing. Sending my best wishes to you in the process!

    1. Oh yes, a surprise for sure! I could hear two sets of feet running around and groaned to think what was inside. But a cute little bunny was a nice surprise. We had a lot of discussion (after I put the cat away) about how we were going to work together to get it safely out of the house. Hope you have a great Saturday, Ashley!

  1. Ah, kitties! Maybe she wants a baby brother or sister or a tiny playmate. Did you tell your kiddies about it? They may have begged for another mouth to feed! 😉 Love the tumblebus birthday plan! What fun. Happy birthday to both. 🎂💕

    1. I love your perspective, Julia! Even better – I filmed the bunny so that they could see it. My daughter was a little scared she was going to see something the cat injured but it was fine.

Happy weekend to you my friend!

  2. The creator of that bus was/is a genius! I hope you had a discussion with kitty about no more live bunnies as toys. We have so many bunnies around here- big ones- I’ll be glad to send a few up to the kitty if you like? Hot weather again- does your family do Seafair? I have some nice family memories of the events, as well as it being the first very unofficial date of my ex-husband and myself…

    1. You’re right – the creator of that bus was genius. And hopefully rich, too!

So funny about you first unofficial date with your ex. It certainly is a big tradition around here. We go out on my brother’s WWII era tugboat and park it just north of the I90 bridge and get a great show. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get any pictures with my camera phone but I’ll try!

I think we’re fine on bunnies but thanks for the gracious offer. 🙂 But perhaps I could send the kitty down to have a little vacation playing with you and the bunnies? 🙂

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.

    1. What a profound statement that you don’t run anymore because there’s too much to see. That is brilliant, DutchIl. Thanks, as always for sharing your kind wisdom and wishes with me!

  4. A cabin near the lake is a great way to beat the heat and the tumblebus sounds like a lot of fun. I’m glad you were able to get the bunny out before the kids saw it or you may have a new pet now.

    1. I’m laughing, Nancy! You are right – I didn’t need another pet, especially one the cat likes to play with that might not end well. 🙂 Hope you’ve had a lovely week my friend!

    2. It sounds like a BLAST! Another loooong power outage later, it’s hard not to appreciate a day like you’ve had at the lake 🙂

I’m a little awed by the gentleness of your cat: one would think that some (most?) cats would not have brought it home in an “intact” condition? Clearly you’re rubbing off on your cat!

      1. Oh, you are as kind as you are smart and delightful, EW! You are right – it was a surprise that the little bunny was just fine.

What the heck – another power outage? Wow, I’m so sorry! I think we need to dust off that moving list!

  5. Looks like a wonderful week. The tumbling bus is genius service. Great way to celebrate a birthday! And glad you are beating this atrocious (and unsafe) heat by the lake. I also notice the shortening days. So sad! 😭

    1. Yes, we can already feeling summer slipping away. But you have another week off!! Yay!!

Yes, the Tumblebus is genius – and air-conditioned. 🙂

      Hope you enjoy your weekend!

  6. Lovely quote! I miss lake life so much. Tumble bus looks awesome. Glad the bunny made it out safe. You didn’t want another pet?

As you probably know, I’ve been running around all week with Hachi, the German Shepherd/Akita I’m dog-sitting. Two nights ago, his leash came unclicked on our walk (how is a mystery) and he ended up crawling under the fence to join his cow friends. He had the time of his life! I, not so much but once he had herded them into the barn he was pretty easy to wrangle back onto the leash.

    1. That’s such a great story about Hachi! So funny. Did you get any pictures of that? I can imagine those were some heart-pounding moments but also hilarious at the same time!

  7. I read somewhere that cats can be good or bad for us! Either stress us out or soothe the stress. Would you agree?
Today was spent trampling on gravesite as ten Mexicans guided a bulldozer to lay my husband’s uncles casket to rest. Insanely worrisome for all but heartwarming in the end as they accomplished their hefty task ✝️❤️🥰🤗

    1. What an interesting comment about cats, Victoria. This cat is very good at being independent but also affectionate. She doesn’t get a lot of attention but seems happy with it.

Oh, what a scene you’ve painted about laying your husband’s uncle to rest. I’m glad the worrisome moved to heartwarming. Sending my best.
