Photos of the Week: June 4

In a week that ranged from rain to sunshine, sickness and health, nights that had restless sleep and nights we slept well, not only did I eat Dove chocolate to get through, but I also wholeheartedly adopted this wrapper advice.

My favorite picture of the week – little people casting long shadows. It reminds me of the beginning of Peter Pan where Wendy is sewing his shadow on so it can always be with him.

Backyard camping where the primary wildlife we saw was the cat trying to squeeze herself between the tent body and the rain fly.

I know what the boots are for – measuring who has collected the most water at the end of puddle jumping. But what are the umbrellas for?

Reading my tea leaves — I see love…!

How was your week?

  1. The shadow photo by that beautiful light is wonderful. Those backyard camping photos and the jumping on puddles moments are precious. No wonder you saw nothing but love in your cup. Enjoy your weekend!

  2. Loved all the photos! Your next challenge is to snap a shot of the shadows left by those who are not in the picture. It should win you a prize!

    1. Oh, oh, oh, Dr. Stein – what a profound and interesting comment! Wouldn’t that be an interesting photo? I hope you enjoy your weekend!

    1. I ate three of them that had that wisdom on the wrapper so I am pretty sure it was a message meant for me! 🙂 It’s funny – I scrolled back up to look at the pictures when I read this comment because my kids do look really happy but it was a challenging week healthwise and sleepwise. I guess we never take photos of the not happy moments so like any social media it looks skewed. It’s still true that they were very happy at those moments so it’s kind of fun to see that happiness comes amidst challenges and that’s okay too. Thanks for getting me reflecting on this, Grace! Hope you have a lovely weekend and maybe even get out to play in the dirt!

      1. Thank you, Wynne! I did get to play in the dirt a bit and bought some new plants (and a weeping cherry tree!). It is true that we tend to only photograph happy moments, but I think most of us realize this. This is something we need to teach children about social media though, so they don’t see the profiles of others and think “gosh, their life is so much happier than mine”. Hope this week goes a little better with regard to health and sleep! 🙂

      2. Such a great point about social media, Grace. I realize that I’m dreading the time when my little ones connect but your comment reminds me what a rich teaching ground it is!

Wow – new plants a cherry tree! Beautiful – I bet your mom is looking down and beaming!

My daughter used to love backyard camping when when was little! Super fun!

      1. Lol! I let her camp in the backyard with friends. One summer was the record where here and a friend did 30 days! They had a blast!

      2. That’s amazing – 30 nights! My daughter wanted to do it this weekend with a friend but I don’t think we’ve caught up on sleep from last weekend so we are quite ready for that yet. But I love that you let your daughter do that!

    1. Oh, what a challenge to find a quote for a whole week. EW, you always get me thinking and I LOVE it. How about “Where there is love, there is life.” – Mahatma Gandhi

  4. Well, I didn’t get to splash around in any puddles, but other than that my week was good. I remember reading the wisdom on the bottom of Snapple lids way back in the day. I wonder if they still print advice there? Haven’t had Snapple in years.
