“Live life as though everything was rigged in your favor.” – Rumi
Is that the poetic way of saying “Try everything, know that you will reach the other side of every obstacle, and always believe you will be loved – even when wet, tired and hungry?”

Turns out Gus is a Beatles fan! Because he can “Imagine” lying in “Strawberry Fields Forever” where “All You Need Is Love!”
I love this because it tells me how much my dad is with me every day. Not just in the nose or the smile but the ability to amplify delight with just a look. It reassures me that in addition to my memories of Dad, the imprint of his life and love on me will be there forever. He left me with his huge capacity for love, faith, joy and wisdom and I only have to keep them filled them up as he did.
I miss my dad’s ability to make me feel loved and secure with a wink and a smile. I don’t know if there is a peephole in heaven that allows him to look down and root for us (maybe even pull some strings) but these pictures tell me that he is still present and walks with me and Miss O every step of the way.
“A person that never climbs will never fall.” – William Shakespeare
I can assure you that William Shakespeare was never a mother. 😀 But I still let Miss O climb because I loved all the chances I’ve had to climb and all I’ve learned from my falls, both literally and metaphorically!!
Gus is named after Odysseus’s faithful dog, Argus. Simon is not impressed, as usual….
“Life is not meant to be easy…but take courage: it can be delightful.” – George Bernard Shaw
I love this quote – I think of it every day in some form or another, sometimes as a prayer, every once in a while with an expletive added but most often with a big grin and a note of thanks!
It is hard to get a handle on this spoon thing (pun intended) 🙂
If this is work, can I have a double-shift?
I think Miss O has the hang of how to relax at a lake cabin — find a breezy spot with your favorite dog and sit back with a contented smile!!
It’s turns out that you CAN go home again!! And I’ve enjoyed immensely remembering how lucky I was to grow up in such a lovely place with lovely people who have gotten cooler, more interesting and more delightful!
