Simon has been listening to a lot of fairy tales lately. Why is it that every cat thinks he’s the prince in the story and not the stable boy?
“Having an honest friend — one before whom you can dump all your heart’s pockets and still feel you are worth something – is a form of wealth that will buy you nothing but give you everything.” – Mark Nepo
I am so lucky to have so many honest friends but am especially grateful to these three for giving me a 24 hour break from my life so I can read, rest and restore. You guys are so generous, loving and fun!!
Miss O, not everybody is a good conversationalist!
I think I need to do a better job explaining Hide and Go Seek to Miss O — she clearly thinks it’s “Head and Show Socks!”
I’m always inspired by the devotion and bonds between people and their animals and the story of my dear friend, Jill and her dog Riggs is one that touches me every day!
Of course it was fate that brought Jill and Riggs together. Jill, the intrepid climber that wasn’t scared of anything but had just lost her boyfriend to cancer and Riggs, the fearful 9 month old pup who was found not to be a good candidate for breeding. But the real story has been written every day after that — In the 3 or 4 walks a day they’ve taken for more than 13 years, many in the middle of the night, in all Jill’s care of Riggs’ epilepsy and IBS and every other health ailment known to dogs, in all the threats Riggs has protected Jill from through all the years, even if most were just in his mind, and in all the many trails they have walked together. So as the years go by and we bear witness to this beautiful relationship shared by these two we see the mark of love they leave on each other — Jill giving Riggs some of her courage and Riggs trying to slow Jill down. As with all great partnerships, it was fate that brought them together but it was love that made them stay.
“The grand essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” – Alexander Chalmers
As we slide into this Wednesday, I’m hoping that everyone has a happy day!
Thank goodness there are a lot of tyke racks in this city!
The president’s latest “calm before the storm” comments remind me of Gus’ vow not to fall for it! Distracting us from the real issues at hand is not a valid leadership strategy!
I love that someone built these amazing rock cairns at Greenlake. A much needed reminder of the human capacity for beauty and peaceful creation!
There is stiff competition for a good seat for the game! Go Seahawks!!
