I grew up understanding that my mom cared for me, taught me, and loved me. But now when I see her caring for my daughter, I feel 1,000 times the gratitude; now I see her delight in teaching my daughter and I am 1,000 times amazed; now I see her love for my daughter and my heart explodes 1,000 times. A “grand” mother indeed. Happy Mother’s Day!
This is always true — but especially this past week. Because being an adopted dog and adjusting to sweet and sometimes nervous adopted dog isn’t always easy but it’s better with the help of friends!

Gus is singing one of my favorite songs from “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” After being abandoned twice, getting neutered and going to the emergency vet all in one month, he ought to know. But now he’s got a lot of people to love so what seems painful was just a transformation to a new life! Gives me hope for the work in progress that is my life!
It’s always a blessing when we can see ourselves through someone else’s eyes — especially when that someone is an incredibly supportive and kind Auntie. I think Miss O sees how lucky she is!

Happy National Pet Adoption Day! Miss O and I spent a bit of time at the Shelter Animal Shelter the past couple of days and found this delightful boy for our friend Eric to adopt. Because he’s the perfect combination of Samson, the yellow lab that Eric lost about a year ago and the late, great Biscuit, Eric’s going to let us share him. So fun to find a great dog and see all the wonderful pets available at our shelters that do such amazing work!
Simon talking politics? No, I’m sure he means the loss of his dear friend Biscuit. Or perhaps it’s a double entendre because that’s how this cat rolls!
