Photos of the Week: October 19

Spend unbroken chunks of time with the most important people in your life.” – Brian Tracy

Have you been following Elizabeth Wickhams’s (from the bleuwater blog) debate between phone and camera? All of these pics were taken from my camera when we were on Whidbey Island last weekend.

And these were taken with my phone. More impromptu and less zoom, for sure.

Cooper has heard that it’s important to keep trying to make friends, even when it seems they are ignoring you. Oh, and to be polite.

These were from Mr. D’s first fieldtrip. The Kindergartners got to go to a pumpkin farm — but the highlight was that he got to ride on a school bus!

We don’t see Mt. Rainier often from on Whidbey Island since it’s a little further north and west from where we are at home. So I was delighted when it popped out over the bay. I think Dunn Lumber might be making a good point in the sign of the week.

  1. The first comment? Oh my. I like the sign but I think we spend a lot of time trying TO paint the world. It’s all in how you see the word paint. We ‘paint’ with our words, we ‘paint’ with a camera or brush.. and I do love how you paint the life you live. Keep spreading the joy! Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Oh, what an insightful comment. Yes, we spend a lot of time trying to paint the world. So true!

Thank you for your lovely comment, Clay. Hope you have a wonderful weekend as well!

    2. I’m smiling, I like your interpretation of the word paint! It seems so much more creative and fun!

  2. Cooper… what a guy. That picture is precious!

Honestly, I think all the photos you shared are pretty great.

How about we just try to paint our own little worlds with some quality colors?

  3. You and Elizabeth — photographers of the week, for sure! Love all of these! I think I got my days mixed up, though. I thought Miss O made the cheesecake yesterday (boy, was I salivating!) but it looks like it was a Whidbey Island treat. I’m sure everything tastes better on the island! xo! 🥰

    1. We did make it on Whidbey. But had extra filling that you brougt home — which was just an excuse to make more graham cracker crust! 🙂

You’re right – everything tastes better on the island. But cheesecake tastes good everywhere! 🙂 ❤ ❤

  4. Such great pics Wynne. I bet your camera roll is as full as mine. I read EA’s post and it is a debacle sometimes. Though I find the phone much easier to deal with and now phones take pretty good pictures, though a traditional camera can’t be beat I think.
Loving all the fun memories you’re creating for your kids and Cooper. Dunn Lumber definitely has a point. I wonder what Dulux would say in reply. 😆

    1. I’m laughing about your Dulux comment, Alegria!

I’m with you that a traditional camera can’t be beat but the phones are so handy! Isn’t it fun to have full camera rolls? Sending you lots of love!!

  5. Such beautiful photos and birds you captured on your camera, Wynne! There definitely are times when one would benefit more than the other. But all such precious photos.

What’s Mr D pointing at? My first thought was a pile of poop but it looks like some sort of sea vegetation?

    That cheesecake/pastry looks delicious!!!

  6. Thanks for the link; I’ll have to read Elizabeth’s post. This is something I’ve been thinking about often – how I’ve gotten used to taking the easy route and leaving my camera home, relying on my phone instead, most of the time. Or shooting on both and only bothering with the phone pics. Technology has come so far, it’s hard to dispute the quality of a phone camera…and you really can’t beat the convenience. That alone is enough to tip the scales for me.

    1. I hear you about the convenience. Especially when you are out for an early morning walk or enjoying a meal. I’ve found that I get the camera out when we go on vacation to Whidbey Island but otherwise it’s my phone all the way!

  7. Beautiful photos, Wynne! I loved the one with the eagle. Kids with tablets and Cooper doing yoga in front of a fireplace—oh, what a beautiful and peaceful moment for you! I bet you enjoyed those few minutes, maybe with a book, some tea, or, better yet, a little nap.

  8. Your photos are beautiful, Wynne, even with your phone! The wildlife, your family pics, and the water photos. Stunning! I enjoyed Elizabeth’s comparison too. 🙂 My cell takes pretty good photos, so I’m thankful. And now I know that you have Cooper and I have Copper. 🐾🥰🌷
