“Recognize what is simple. Keep what is essential.” – Lao Tzu

Mini Cooper is figuring out his world.
Mr. D has perfected the pose to ward off unwanted puppy attention. I told him he doesn’t need to scowl when he does it, but it’s quite the look! His pose reminds me of this sunflower in the community pea patch.
Whether it be Mr. D’s scowl, or the fact that Mini Cooper gained 4 pounds in a week so he won’t be mini for long, the squirrels coming into the yard to eat plums will likely not be doing that for too much longer!

Tricks for having fun in a heat wave.

But it wasn’t too hot to play.

The heart and the sign of the week.
You know I love those action shots with the kids…Miss O? Wowza. Following in mama’s footsteps – literally. Look at those hand and foot holds. And I must admit I’m partial to Mr. D’s scowl. It’s a gem! But it doesn’t look like Cooper was deterred one bit. Go get ’em, Coop! LOL! π€£

Yes, Coop doesn’t seem to be able to read the facial expressions yet. Not a deterrent at all! π β€

Great photos as always. I’m with Vicki, Miss O showing her determination to follow in your footsteps. She looks so confident on the wall.

What an apt comment, Brenda. She was really confident on the wall – she had a week of rock climbing camp (I tried to join but they wouldn’t let me!) and she really enjoyed it!

Aw that was so inconsiderate of them to not let you join π

Miss O is remarkable, as Brenda notes. The photo of Mr. D does make an impression: a young man jumping ahead to the “Get off my lawn!” stage of life. Apparently, the Village Market signmaker didn’t realize that his own example is charging $5.39 for a gallon of gas!

What a good point about the price of gas, Dr. Stein. Yes, I love that gas stations signs but I never buy gas there. And I’m still chuckling about the “Get off my lawn.” scowl. Perfectly named!! π β€

They’re so cute! Love the scowl! Heat never gets kids or puppies down, but it might make them a little cranky! Love these!

4 pounds. Wow! Seattle seems to be a very dog-friendly city. Iβm at The Westin and the website says itβs a pet-friendly hotel. When we went for dinner last night, there was a lovely dog on the patio at the table beside us.

Yes, its a pretty dog-friendly place. Dog bowls are everywhere and we even have some dog drinking fountains too. Hope you enjoy your stay, Michelle!

It must be a west coast thing. When we were on Vancouver Island we saw the drinking fountains with the tiny dog drinking fountains at the bottom. So cute!

While I love all the pics, that sign is spot on! It will henceforth become one of my go-to put-on-the-brakes ideas when I’m about to say something where my intuition cautions, “Frand, you may be right on the verge of advertising a values gap. Noting this, is this opinion-offering STILL your desired path forward?!” π

Love your cautionary phrase – funny and true at the same. Love it!

The pic of Mr. D and the sprinkler looks like he’s in flight. I’m glad you’ve found ways to beat the heat. I blew up our ten foot inflatable pool. Big enough for a float and that’s all I need.

Nice spotting, Michelle – yes, he was mid-leap. Glad you found a way to beat the heat too!

Is the little house going to be for Cooperπ? Beautiful photos Wynne, I love the squirrel in your garden, maybe one day Cooper and him will become friendπ

I don’t know if Cooper is going to take over the play house. He does look pretty official sitting outside it! As to the squirrel – maybe so? Love your take on things!

Does Mini Cooper respond to the Mr. D’s pose? I’m just wondering if it’s effective – I may have to develop that skill for annoying situations if it is ππ

Turning the back and crossing the arms works pretty well. Scowl is extra. π But sometimes he gets bit on the butt so watch out for that. π

Cooper is cute! How big will he get? What is it about playing in a cardboard box that never gets old? Iβd play in one now if I had one big enough! Or maybe Iβm just weird like that π

I think cardboard is that blank slate that offers so many possibilities. right? And after our recent trip to IKEA, we have a lot of it. π
I think Cooper will probably be around 70 pounds. I swear he looks bigger when I see him every morning. It’s happening fast!
Happy Monday, Todd!
