Photos of the Week: August 5

A bird is safe in its nest – but that’s not what wings are made for.” – Amit Ray

Riffing off the quote of the post – apparently wings are made for rides at the fair. At first the tame rides we’re fine but it wasn’t long before Miss O wanted to try out the Tornado. At the end, we talked to a turkey and that was Mr. D’s favorite part. I think he invited it over for Thanksgiving.

Meet Cooper aka named Mini Cooper for his puppy stage. He’s coming home on August 11. At which point you should all expect this blog to go to the dogs!

Except for Mr D and Miss O, of course!

The sand castle heart (aka Castle Heart Island) and the sign of the week.

  1. Congrats on Cooper, whether Mini or Maxi! Ah, but do you have a signed contract requiring the kids to take care of him? In any case, dogs are wonderful and the Leon Family shall expand in joy and love.

  2. I like Dr. Steinโ€™s question about whether you have a signed contract with the kids re doggie care! And re this weekโ€™s sign, itโ€™s an exceedingly fine line!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

    1. I’m laughing about the fine line. Yep, I couldn’t agree more, Jane! As I said to Dr. Stein – we have a verbal contract but perhaps this is a time to get it down on paper. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Love the *getting ready for fall* hair renewal! Nothing hints at school is on the way more than taming the wild hairs ๐Ÿ˜‰

There are no words for Cooper except adorable!

    1. Oh, I hadn’t put together the hair cuts with school but you’re right, Deb! It’s like back pack, binder shopping and a new pack of pencils…so evocative! And Cooper – yes, it’s hard not to fall in love with a puppy. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Ah yes, that puppy face and fuzz is so easy to fall in love with!! I might have to post some “content might be overly sweet” warnings. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks, my dear friend! โค โค โค

  5. Ms. O’s neon jacket/sweatshirt is giving my major 90s vibes, and I’m here for it! Also, Mr. D inviting the turkey over for Thanksgiving? I’m laughing so hard right now!!! And of course, Mini Cooper is absolutely swoon-worthy! What a great week you’ve had!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Love these photos! I remember taking the youngest on the baby rides and she was so over being too short for the bigger kid rides. She was overjoyed to finally get tall enough to get into some of the big kid rides that she proved to us she could manage them by going on repeatedly!

You’re building so many happy memories for each of you! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Great stories, Tamara! Yes, that “line” between the baby rides and the big rides is a monumental one. Mr D went on a couple of the big kid rides that he was barely made the cut with as long as an adult went along. The first was fine. The second he endured, didn’t utter a peep during the ride and then said, “that was terrible” as he walked out… ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. Lol, not all kids like to be shaken up, swirled, twirled and jangled! I cannot handle it, but my daughter and now all the kids love to go together on those kinds of rides. He may never enjoy them, or he may grow to like them when he gets bigger!

      2. In a way that’s nice for you if your stomach can’t handle the fiercer rides! I get dizzy just looking at them, so I need to sit off in a quiet shady spot while the rest of the bunch has their fun. I can do the water rides, so that fun!

  7. The fishing sign gave me a great big laugh! I like to fish and when we’d go to Big Bear Lake on weekends, I’d try standing on the shore. Never caught anything. Your kids are precious along with the new puppy.

  8. I too would love to fly around in the mini planes, and I may get my hair trimmed more often if I could sit in a fire truck – marvelous!!!!! As for Cooper – well a “pawsitivity” positive adventure is coming your way!

  10. Oh my gosh, youโ€™re getting a dog! What fun and thrilling for the kids Iโ€™m certain. Very exciting. Looks like youโ€™ve had a great week and a wonderful one to come. Love the fishing sign. ๐Ÿ˜†

    1. Thanks, Todd. Now you have me thinking about it again. Do you suppose the “thin line” is supposed to be the fishing line? It might be that the sign was too clever for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. There’s so much I love about this, I don’t even know where to start! Given my propensity to run long in search of hitting ALL THE POINTS, I’ll say I love the quote and OMG that sweet puppy face!!! And, oh, all the rest, too. ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

  12. Cooper is adorable as are the kids fresh haircuts.

And I had to laugh at Mr D inviting a Turkey over for Thanksigiving. I guess you know what youโ€™re cooking for dinner!

    1. You are so delightfully clever, Julia. The breeder just told me we can pick Cooper up early but I haven’t told the mini-Leons yet. How wonderful to have a surprise like that?? ๐Ÿ™‚ โค
