Photos of the Week: June 24

Whatever you do today, do it with the confidence of a 4-year-old wearing a batman t-shirt.” – unknown

How is it that I never realized that my tent can fit two twin mattresses until this year? I totally should have thought of it the year Miss O and I did a backyard campout when I was 8 months pregnant with Mr. D. Sure, it would have been awkward carry those up to some of the places I’ve used the tent, but it’s way more comfortable! And it works great for the backyard.

I can’t claim that we don’t jump in puddles when it’s cold out — but it is WAY more fun when it’s warm out!

Yard work with my mom (Nana) and Father’s Day with my brother, the fun uncle.

In the yard – racoons on the fence and Calla lilies in a pot. I have been fortunate that those lilies just keep showing up year after year – but I didn’t know that until my friend, Deirdre, informed me that they aren’t that easy to grow and I’ve been breaking all the rules. Hmm, now I’m grateful and love the flowers even more!

The neighborhood skeleton and a sign. Put together and we have the summer of love??

    1. Can’t wait to read the post that comes out of those three things, Brian!! And by the way, Mr. D also has a pair of batman undies so you might want to throw that one in as a bonus! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Michelle! And yes – the raccoons. They destroy anything styrofoam we leave in the backyard so I have to give them kudos for being the impetus for keeping our toys picked up! 🙂

    1. Can you ‘ditto’ a ‘ditto’? 😉 Jane and Julia – my thoughts exactly…I’d only add my amazement to Wynne’s comment, casual-like, that she and Miss O did a backyard campout when she was 8-months pregnant! 😉

      1. Oh, noooo! Apples and oranges! How can you compare an 8-month pregnant overnight camping adventure to a lifelong journey of looking out for the best interests of a disabled sister? You’re equal in my eyes! One as fabulous as the other! 😇

      1. Well…he is pretty fashion-forward, but so outdoorsy so likely REI 😉 I’d like to know if he’s a Merrell or Keen person- or perhaps Teva.

  1. Backyard camping is alway the best Wynne. Looks like the kids loved it. And I love that the skeleton is celebrating Pride. Enjoy your weekend together. Lots of puddles here today for the kids to jump in!

  2. Love your photos, Wynne. I especially love Miss O’s exuberant leap for the puddle. And, hmm. Is there also an “unfun uncle” hiding in the closet? 😉 Happy weekend, you rule-breaker you.

  3. Love all these! Those lilies! 🤩 last time I camped with my daughter and the kids, a few years ago, we brought 2 inflatable queen size air mattresses and they fit into my daughter’s large family tent. Laid down fleece blankets the first night since it was so cold, but we slept comfortably. That’s my style of camping now! Lol!

    1. That sounds amazing, Tamara. Fleece blankets? Thanks for the suggestion about what we need to incorporate next!! And you are so amazing for being game to camp with your daughter and grandkids. Impressive!! ❤

      1. Lol! My grandson camped with his scout Troup this week, I wouldn’t have gone even if I could, the weather was too hot and I wouldn’t have done well! Missouri summers are difficult! 😁

      2. Thanks so much Wynne! I’m a big repurposer, so finding unique solutions to ordinary problems is something I look for and try out! 😀🙃

  5. besides the gorgeous lilies what jumps out at me are “racoons just in your yard” – no racoons in New Zealand. Nothing much wild leaping around your yard either here, other than cats. Or the unseen night creature, the “possum” (not to be confused with the American opossum)
