Photos of the week: March 11

Always be on the lookout for the presence of wonder.” – Jana Stanfield

Indoor bouncy house – inflatable zone on a Sunday morning.

Walking out of the bouncy house place with my kids, I was looking down to avoid puddles in the parking lot and then glanced up to find that we were five feet from Macklemore. He appeared to be taking his daughters to a birthday party at the same place.

At this point I need to say that I’m not so hip as to normally be able to recognize Macklemore, even though he’s a world famous rapper. But he’s a Seattle boy, through and through, and I’d just seen him do an interview. And in the parking lot moment, he was dressed better than any other parent taking their kid to a bouncy house place and most Seattlites in general. So he was noticeable.

When we got ready to go out that evening, I found my kids stepping up their attire. Mr D came up with this outfit out of his hand me downs without any help, except that Miss O added the necklace. I’m calling it the “Macklemore effect.”

I managed to get my kids up to the deck to see the full moon this week. When we were there, Mr D saw the darling, young neighbor in the yard with her puppy and yelled “hi.” She texted me later “I’m taking notes for when I have kids to take them to the roof to look at the moon.” I wished her good luck with that because strangely, it’s so much harder than it sounds to do.

Signs of the week.

  1. I might be the only person on the planet who didn’t know of Macklemore. As the French would say, I am not “au courant.” Glad you are keeping me up to date, Wynne.

    1. Well, Dr. Stein, Macklemore has nothing on Leonard Bernstein. And to be fair, I couldn’t have named a single of his songs before I looked him up after our encounter. But he’s been really inspirational in his struggle with addiction and recovery so I like his honesty.

    1. Isn’t that sweet? I got a lot of great shots – and one where D’s hair is flying up so you can’t see Olivia’s face at all and she kinda looks like a lion instead. So fun (and funny!). Thanks, my friend! ❤ ❤ ❤

      1. Ah. You make me feel better! The closest I’ve come to bouncy house fun lately is going down the indoor slide at my friends house that went from the first floor to the basement. I WHEEEE’d my way all the way down and around the twisty turny curves.!

  2. What an awesome encounter to have. And you are hipper than you think, Wynne!

And that photo of the kids sliding down together and that look of glee on their faces is just pure pure joy.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks for the vote of confidence in my hip-dom. I’m just grateful that I looked up before I literally bumped into him. That would have been a whole different story… 🙂

    1. Oh, what a lovely comment, Tamara! I recently wrote about the window in the fence between our yards (because she lives in the house that my daughter’s friend used to live in). I sent her that blog as way of explanation. She’s a lovely young woman!

Hope you are having a great weekend! ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. I love that you looked up that info, Catherine. I hadn’t done that yet so thanks for sharing that info. He did a free concert in Seattle the day after I saw him. Seems like the release of this new album has him quite busy – so it’s lovely to see him attending to his kids in the midst of that.

    1. I love this comment, Natalie – “opening ourselves to the tiny joy around us is a great way to feed our Happy.” Yes, yes, yes! Thanks for feeding my Happy, my friend! 🙂 ❤
