Photos of the Week: May 13

The cure for anything is salt water – sweat, tears, or sea.” – Isak Dinesen

We spent an evening at the beach this week and it was glorious to dip our toes back into Puget Sound.

A field full of wishes and Mr. D showing us how to release them for their full effect.

Hanging around at home. Miss O wanted to mow the whole lawn herself for the first time. Mr. D said there was a lot of traffic on his imaginary road for pink cars…

Two dogs = one attentive audience

I found the perfect birthday gift for my friend that has everything.

It’s egg-sactly heart shaped. And Miss O must be eating all the right things since she’s spotting things as small as this heart on the pavement.

Signs of the week…

    1. I’m struggling, too! There was also the artistic photographer/mother figure shadow paving the way Mr. D’s playfulness on the beach, a wonderful tribute to mothers everywhere!

The egg-heart and the miniature heart (awesome observation power for Miss O, glad you included the foot for size reference so we can see how remarkably keen she is!)

Love the broccoli message! Someone shared a large sign on a wall with me that said “Lessons in life will be repeated until they are learned.” 😁

      1. Oh, that’s a great sign! And so, so true!

So funny that you noted my shadow in the picture, EW. On these sunny days, sometimes I just can’t help but be in the picture too. What a symbolic image that is, right?

Sending lots of love and wonderful weekend wishes to you!!

  1. A road full of pink cars sounds delightful and I love that the beach is still so bright and busy in the evening. Summer is truly around the corner.

Hope you three enjoy your weekend! I have to work this morning. Feels like an extra long week! 🙃😆

  3. I’m with everyone else — too many gems to pick a fave…or two…I love Mr. D’s traffic adventures…and the scenes from the beach. I can almost smell it…and the quote about salt water — tears, sweat or sea as cure-alls? Love…and Cheryl’s lovely book as a gift? Yes – that makes sense, too! 😘

  4. There’s so much in here that made me smile. My faves are your beautiful toenails sussing out the likely still very cold water, and the broccoli sign. Miss O. and Mr. D. are always cute, goes without saying. (But I just said it anyway, didn’t I?) 🙂

    1. Oh, your comment made me laugh, Susan. Funny that “goes without saying” is a oft used phrase about what we are indeed saying!

Thank you for the lovely comment. Yes, the water was bracing – but it’s nice to be headed toward summer! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Susan!!

  5. Awe, another beautiful week, love that you spent an evening dipping your toes in the sound. You kids just warm my heart, traffic and mowing the lawn, they’re keen observers aren’t they? Thanks for including an image of my book, that makes me ridiculously happy! Hugs, C

    1. You have such a good eye, Cheryl! Yes, my kids are very good observers. It’s so fun and fascinating to listen to them as they describe all the things they hear and see! And I’m so glad you like the image of your book – really, it’s a perfect gift! Sending huge hugs to you – and happy Mother’s Day!!

  6. Lovely post, beautiful happy photos. Making lots of memories. I loved the fact that you appear to have a forest at the back of the beach, and I always love to see the sea/water

    1. Brenda – you have such a good eye because that is what caught my attention too was all the green of the trees and woods! It seems especially green at this time of year. Thanks for your lovely comments!

  7. Poor broccoli gets such a bad rap.

Funny how excited I was when my son was finally old enough to mow the lawn, and here I am, many years later, excited because I get to mow my own lawn with a riding lawn tractor. THAT is the circle of life!

    1. You make a good point – she did want to do it the first time. But I think the shine wore off and I’m not sure she wants to do it a second! 🙂
